Update OneDrive contents automatically

I have a OneDrive account and uploaded files from my hard drive there already. Con someone indicate how I might update those files automatically within a specified interval (for example every 6 hrs)?

I have Windows 11 and would rather not have to use a third party app to do it. All help greatly appreciated.

Do you mean 'update' as in just change their 'Last Modified Date'? Anytime you edit those files, they will automatically be updated.

I guess we need a little more information about the type of files and what you want/need them for.

Thanks for your reply. I have a bunch of Excel files there that I work on during the day, save to the hard disc at night. For some reason they're not updating, for example right now under the folder name "Finance" (the one containing Excel files) it reads "3 days ago".

I hope this explains the situation better. Thanks for helping me out.

When you say you have a OneDrive Account, is it the free 5GB of OneDrive cloud storage?
Or do you subscribe to Microsoft 365 and you have 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage?

It only makes a difference if you try to exceed 5GB.

If you have Excel set to save files to your OneDrive folder, the files will be automatically in sync with OneDrive cloud storage.

Of course, you may need more space than 5 GB if lots of Excel files.

If you have Office 365, you get 1 TB of could space - that will hold zillions of Excel files.

I subscribe to Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) and I have 1 Terabyte of OneDrive Cloud storage.
Microsoft 365 for one user is a bargain at $69.99 annually and includes all of Microsoft Office plus 1TB cloud storage.

I have my Excel configured to save in local: OneDrive > Documents > Excel Files

I'm curious as to what was happening to the original poster. If you are saving files into your onedrive folder on your computer, they should be syncing automatically, pretty much instantly to onedrive. I guess it's possible that they right clicked on OneDrive and paused Syncing.

Perhaps one of the options in settings was toggled, for example like not starting OneDrive when Windows starts

AH, I see. I didn't realize the folder with the files was simply outside of the OneDrive folder. I thought it was already in OneDrive, but simply not synchronizing.
