Can you tell me if I need to upgrade to Windows 11 if I'm not a gamer?

It is entirely optional, 11 is very similar to 10. It is an operating system and has nothing to do with being gaming specific and should run all the programs / apps that 10 does. You can try it and if you don't like it either restore an image or roll back, just like you would on 10 with an unsuitable update

Win11 compatible, although update not yet offered through Windows Update (Win11 install assistant was used).
As a gamer myself, Windows 11 has nothing to do with "gaming". And yes, I'm running Windows 11 Pro on supported hardware.

If your machine supports Windows 11, and you want to experience a new OS, upgrade. If your machine does not support Windows 11, you could simply stay with 10 until you have the specs for Windows 11.

You could also take a chance and run it on your unsupported hardware (whether Insiders or RTM), but then, that's taking a chance, and you should have the skills needed to resolve any issues that may arise.

But, no, upgrading to Windows 11 is more than "gaming"

Good luck.

@Olivia

You can pretty much do both, if you want.

I think the easiest way, is to just make a full OS image backup of Windows 10.
Then... upgrade to Windows 11, play around with it. Stay with it if desired, or just restore your Windows 10 backup.

As others have said... it won't affect gaming, one way or the other.
And... Windows 10 will be supported till 2025.

Macrium Reflect User Guide...

Macrium Notes:
1. A full OS image backup will be approx. 1/2 the size of the total "used space" on the C:\ drive.
2. Backing up takes about 75 seconds for every 20GB of "used space" on the C:\ drive.

Thank you all for your replies! I read somewhere that mostly gamers upgrade to version 11, and I thought it was more suitable for gaming in some way. But now I realized that I must have misunderstood something.

Can you tell me if I need to upgrade to Windows 11 if I'm not a gamer?
Olivia: Read the various forums on this site and decide if Windows 11 is right for you. I've been running Windows since version 1.0 and (at least to me), this is the first version which offers no compelling reason to upgrade unless you want Windows to look more like an iMac or Chromebook. I've never hesitated to upgrade to the latest release of Windows (still running just fine on Windows 10) but I'll be waiting for an "a-ha" moment when Microsoft makes Windows 11 a "better" OS.

One thing you'll find is that people are installing third party software to make Windows 11 look more like Windows 10.

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

Microsoft claim that Windows 11 is a better OS for gaming than Windows 10. That's not quite the same thing as saying it's just for gamers
