what is the difference between this corsair vs the crucial ram apart from the colour?

Saved as (.png), it's 931MB. :cool:

Here's a smaller pic... 6000 x 4000. 69MB saved as .bmp
Saved as .png (9MB), it would fill that hard drive.

Around decade ago - while using a mid-range PC for that time (using HDD ofc) - bumped into a photo of Machu Picchu at hyper-resolution (even for modern standards - so called gigapixel - where they mix over a thousand pictures into one - if not thousands of them) - which had around 1.4 GB (heavily compressed too - the original photo is around 4x bigger - both resolution and size). Every app i used struggled to open it (even tried imagemagic with CMD). Supposedly a fast HDD using a SCSI connector in Raid - could have done the trick - but didn't know anyone who had such build. So i forget about it for awhile - till i remembered of RAM-disks (placed it inside and it worked - but zooming in was far from a smooth experience). This days - a mainstream PC might be able to handle the uncompressed image at full resolution, i think... 🤔

Nice, @Brink - it does help with the VMs, doesn't it?

Main reason I built this rig with the 128 I got in it. I can run all the VMs and still crunch data for work, not to mention having multiple apps, plus multiple browsers with numerous tabs, without a hiccup.

Well, that 931MB pic took about 3.5 mins. to convert from .jpg to .png
I went in the kitchen and boiled some water for tea. LOL

I used Paintshop Pro 7.04 to convert it.

I noticed that as well. Back then - even the news site would point you to a source from where you could download it (probably didn't have/know a way to host it - using a java script - like now). I take it - the authors weren't ok with that (seeing they're selling prints) - and probably demanded all images to be removed due to copyright infringement. I looked for it as well - before my last post - and couldn't find it anymore. Highest resolution i could find for Machu Picchu is actually a bit older and significantly smaller 10000x9760:

Yeah...., that's only 10000 x 9760.
I was trying to find the full size one, 297,500 x 87,500. :-)

That one I linked in post #28 in incredible. You can zoom in with the + and - signs.
If there was an ant in that pic, you'd be able to read his Machu Picchu ticket in his pocket. :D

Around 290K but it's not "True" 290K - cause if you zoom in to maximum resolution the details look like this:

Not bad for a Canon 7D (2009 level of quality) - yet, if someone would re-take that shot with a modern camera released 10 years latter (2019 level of quality) - the results (differences in quality) speak for themselves:

Tho, shot with a modern camera - in same way - such image would probably have a size of 11 Gb.... compressed (taking into account - the size differences from above 7.2 mb vs 57.2 mb). With same trick as in the site you posted - you could still view it "square by square (at your monitor's resolution)". Tho, compressed images = loss of quality. So... i don't know about the size of the RAW image.... 😅
