The hardware ID USB\VID_18D1&PID_4EE6&MI_00 identifies an Android Composite MTP/PTP or USB Debugging interface from Google (Vendor ID 18D1). The MI_00 suffix specifies the first interface (often MTP storage or mass storage) of a multi-function USB composite Android device.

Windows does not have the proper MTP or composite Android USB driver installed.

The phone is stuck or failing to switch properly between MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) and PTP mode.

Update or reinstall the Google USB Driver via Windows Device Manager, or toggle USB debugging / file transfer settings on your phone.


A USB debugging interface is a secure connection mode—most commonly used on Android devices—that allows a computer to communicate with a mobile device's operating system via the Android Debug Bridge (ADB). It lets developers and advanced tools install apps, read system logs, run terminal commands, and bypass standard file-transfer limits.

Having developer options enabled means your phone or tablet has unlocked a hidden menu of advanced settings used for testing apps, changing system speeds, and connecting to computers.

• Unlock Your Phone First: Android blocks file access when the device is locked. Make sure your phone screen is unlocked before connecting or checking File Explorer.
• Switch from Charging to File Transfer Mode:
  
  1. Plug your phone into the PC.
  2. Swipe down from the top of your Nothing Phone screen to open the notification shade.
  3. Tap the notification that says Charging this device via USB (or USB Preferences).
  4. Select File Transfer / Android Auto instead of No data transfer.
• Check the USB Cable & Port:
  
  • Ensure you are using a data-capable USB cable. Many bundled or cheap charging cables only carry power lines and lack data wiring.
  • Try plugging directly into a different motherboard port on your PC (preferably a USB 3.0/3.1 port on the back if using a desktop) rather than an unpowered USB hub.
• Fix Missing MTP Drivers in Windows Device Manager:
  
  1. Connect your phone to the PC.
  2. Right-click the Windows Start menu button and select Device Manager.
  3. Look under Portable Devices or Other devices. If you see your Nothing Phone with a yellow exclamation mark or listed as MTP:
     
     • Right-click the device and select Update driver.
     • Choose Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
     • Select MTP USB Device or USB Mass Storage Device and click Next to reinstall the standard driver.
• Enable Default USB Configuration (Optional):
  
  • Go to Settings > About phone > tap Build number 7 times to unlock Developer options.
  • Go back to Settings > System > Developer options.
  • Find Default USB configuration and set it to File transfer so it defaults to transferring data whenever connected.
