Not all external drives are SATA ones in an external enclosure. I don't know whether the 1V9APB-500 is SATA or with a proprietary interface.

Please let us know how it comes out.

It must be entry level. They expect you to buy a more expensive model if you want more Warranty or buy a Warranty extension.

please note ..
this will not install anything to your system

boot from the Linux live USB when at the desktop plugin your external HDD
Ubuntu may be able to save any data you have on the drive
then using 'disks' delete all partitions and reformat the drive NTFS

exit Ubuntu live by restarting the computer
once back into Windows see if the drive works.

Apples and oranges, the drive in question is a 2.5" drive, not a 3.5" drive. The smaller enclosures are a different animal, many are actually glued together.

You must have seen that it is a Barracuda 4TB disk. Please read the label on it and post the Model No and and PN ( SN is not required)
I had ripped open a 5TB Expansion (not an expansion+) long ago and it is now plugged into a ORICO dock for system backups. It is a Seagate Barracuda Model No. ST5000LM000 OEM disk.. Your model no. will perhaps be STEF4000400. I couldn't get the specifications though.

The vacant expansion enclosure now hosts a Samsung 860EVO 500GB SSD

When you get the SATA to USB adapter , plug it in with the disk attached and post a screenshot of Windows Disk Management.

I have got the sata to usb cable and it still will not show in disk management
There is nothing on it that i don't have copy's of so i will just bin it any more time spent on it is just a waist of time

And yes. If it does not show in Disk Management, you can't do anything more on it.
