USB Headset Dropping Connection at Random


All I know about Crowdstrike is the couple of paragraphs I just read about it and all I can say I learned is it is a security program. You can prove it using a test machine. Try these steps, testing your microphone after each one.

1. On a test machine, disable Croudstrike access to microphone if its enabled. settings>privacy&security>microphone

2. A clean boot will prove if there is any software conflict causing this issue. Brinks tutorial will help you weed out which one if that proves to be the case.

we are using Crowdstrike but that doesnt seem to be the issue. I have a configuration with SCCM and a configuration with Autopilot. Both using Crowdstrike. SCCM one doesnt have the audio issue, Autopilot one does.

Dell (or Realtek) released a brand new driver 6.0.9511.1, A76/77 June 1st, 2023. It is already available in Command Update/Supportassist. Give it a try.

This issue has finally been resolved as of the latest Audio driver version: 6.0.9509 (A72)

Here's my experience as of beginning of October 2023.

My (largish) company didn't stock any machines with the performance I needed. So I ordered a 5570. Love it.

Except for this issue. Mic dropouts with my original jabra headset in Zoom. Generally a quick audio test in Zoom would let me reconnect. Frequency of drops varied VERY dramatically. Pretty much what this thread describes.

Replaced the headset, same result.
Tried an unpowered hub (headset is USB-2, 5570 is usb-c only), a powered hub, the Dell usb-2 dongle AND had IT ship me the official Dell dock.

All with the same result.

So the problem here is that because this is a machine our depot doesn't stock our IT team has a very limited ability to support it, even though we get their machine IMAGE. It was just a little beyond them. They updated drivers multiple times, no change.

So, I found this thread. I have the ability to view device configuration and could see that I had three Waves drivers. I use Waves products on my personal recording machine, I'm familiar with them.

First I asked them to install Waves Maxaudio, but Dell download wouldn't allow that for the 5570.

Then I asked them to specifically disable those three Waves drivers. I don't need the audio enhancements.

Bam.. Problem solved. Been stable all day today!

I'll keep that in mind for next year; our issue this year was resolved by the driver releases in June. This January is refresh time, so depending on what model I choose, I may be thanking you again!
