Solved User name in File Explorer is wrong - Can I change it?

I have just set up my new ASUS Zenbook laptop. Before I switched it on I switched of my router so there was no internet connection. I thought this would allow me to set up Windows without registering it in my Microsoft account. This worked in November when I set up my GMKtec device for the first time but the ASUS setup process would not let me continue without an internet connection. There was no option to continue so I had to switch on my router. This forced me to sign in to my Microsoft account and during the process I was asked for a user name. I must have typed in ‘wigan’ instead of ‘Ken’, but I didn’t notice at the time. After the setup was complete I signed out of my MS account and changed to a Local account where I was asked for a user name and I used ’Ken’.

Unfortunately when I see my user name in File Explorer I see my user name is ‘wigan’ and I am unable to change it in File Explorer.

Can anyone tell me how to change ‘wigan’ to ‘Ken’ please?

Follow this tutorial to change the user folder name: Change User folder name. No need to create a new user account.

I agree with LesFerch.
Create a new local account then you can delete the unwanted MSAccount-linked user accounts.
That way, you'll know exactly where you stand.

I think you created a new MSAccount so you could go online to delete it after you've deleetd the corresponding MSAccount-linked user account on your computer.

I'm going to take a guess that wigan is the first five characters of your email address. If I'm right, don't blame yourself for making a mistake. It's just Momma Microsoft making the decisions for you.

You could have set up a local account during OOBE using the new procedure listed in the clean install tutorial which also applies to setting up a new device.
As it is, I agree with the others. Create a new local account, log into it, and delete the old account.

Okay I created another local account as suggested and then removed my previous account and it worked so thanks to all for their input. I'll call it solved.:D
