It's likely no one who knows a potential solution has read your post. I'm sure it's been read, though, as I read it about 2 hours ago.

Hi, Paul. I'm Jason. I'm not sure why there's a bell. Perhaps it's because you created the post.

Hello everybody.

Is It possible to use the Windows 10 Icons in place of the new Windows 11 Icons please ?

Many thanks.

Paul.
I would think the requirement would be to locate the .dll file containing the icons on each version and copy then replace.

Hello, Paul.

Welcome to ElevenForum. (y)

I'm not sure this will truly answer you, but...Right click on the Icon > Click 'Properties' > Click 'Change Icon', and have a look if there is anything you like better.

Good luck.

Give it a bit of time, and I'm confident someone will respond with a more helpful answer.

That will only work if you can point to a dll with the icon you need.

I doubt it will work from W11 to point to a dll on a different OS.

The only solution I can think of is if OP creates images of each icon from W10 and run through an icon editor on W11 to create new icons, the use "change icon".

Hi there
@WXC

If you can create a short cut to the item you can in properties select icon - you can use your own .ico files -- they have to be standard size. For those that are embedded in the dll files the easiest way would be to capture the icon image via snipping tool or whatever as a png - then use icofx program to convert to ico and then use that icon in your system. Not sure though for those "new" type of tiled apps though or those that don't have an easy "findable" folder on your system.

For icofx - last free version -- perfectly good enough for this :

You can design your own ones too.

I would strongly advise against messing around with dll files especially across different OS'es. !!

The COPY of one .dll and replacing the other with it doesn't have to do it across different version, but as a caveat I haven't done it since Win7 using a .dll file from WinXP.
