Windows 11
Yesterday i took the plunge & decided to go ahead with the upgrade to Win 11 from 10. Though my laptop is eligible, i hadn't got the official 'go ahead' from MS to install but i wanted to install it nevertheless.

I downloaded the MS Update Assistant. When i ran it, it looked like everything was going good till it started installing. Up came a BSOD with error DPC_Watchdog_Violation. It booted back up & restored Win 10.

Decided to use the .iso file - mounted it & ran it. Installation went flawlessly. The only change i made was for the installer NOT to search for updates. When Win 11 came up, there were 3 Windows update (including the one to version 22000.258), 2 other Windows update & a firmware update for my laptop.

Now comes the learning curve - as for performance, seems more or less the same as with Win 10. All my installed programs work OK which was the major concern i had (besides it installing OK)

All in all...satisfied...so far!

Hi, Athanasian_Creed, welcome to ElevenForum!
It's now 10 days since I've upgraded to Windows 11.
I really do like the new UI and the way everything works now.
There's no way I will be rolling back either of my computers.

Thanks for the welcome Gary!

Me too - i'll be sticking with Win 11 on my newest laptop. Have a 2014 Acer laptop & 2010 or so Compaq desktop - don't know if i'll install a hacked version of Win 11 on those or just stick to Win 10. Both running well so maybe adhere to the old adage (paraphrased) "if it's workin', don't muck it up!!"

Anyone know if I need to leave the Windows Insider Program to install Win 11 via the assistant?
