I am having issues playing YouTube video in chrome and Edge but not Firefox i have a fast connection decent spec pc and monitor but i get slight stutter in Chromium based browsers i have tried the usual stuff that you find if you google like turning hardware acceleration off but so far nothing has worked so as i have had help here in the past thought i would give the forum another try.

Looked in Chromium now and everything is fine.
Usually it's a problem with the Internet.
Do the video files from the disk play normally in browsers ?

If i play my video files directly from the PC they work fine its when viewing them on YouTube i get the glitch/stutter, on Chrome based browsers its really noticeable but when using Firefox they are much better.

Max, in Chrome, open an "Incognito window" and try YouTube from there. Do you still get stutter or not?

Hi,
Have you tried to disable the browser's plugins? Maybe it's a plugin that is causing this issue.

That's my hunch too. By default, extensions are disabled in Incognito mode. That test will determine whether it's an extension problem or not.

Thanks to both for the suggestions unfortunately neither has made a difference.

I may have accidentally found the issue i have been filming in both 30fps and 60fps (monitor max resolution is 2560 x 1440) the monitor is set to auto for resolution and when i play 60fps video at 2560 x 1440 it is smooth however when the monitor doesn't automatically switch to 1920 x 1080 for the 30fps video and tries to play it at 2560 x 1440 @ 30fps i get the stutter i am going out later to video the same shots from the same place at 60fps 2560 x 1440 then i can compare it.

If as you say, Firefox is not affected by stuttering then I'm not convinced it is a resolution/FPS issue.

If you have two GPUs then you could re-enable hardware acceleration then force Chrome to use your dGPU which may give better performance. For example, add Chrome to the NVIDIA Control Panel or via Windows Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics.

I took the same video today in 60fps and I am getting no jitter on Edge or Firefox the previous 30fps version was not perfect on Firefox, but it was noticeably smoother than on Edge.
