I have to agree with you about the website. It was enough to make me NOT want to even look at Opera GX. So, I didn't.
We'll just hafta share that opinion with @Jane !

really? a webpage made you decide this? Thats brilliant xD!

Hey, Do you know if its possible to import everything from Opera GX? I love the customisation that Vivaldi has, Only thing Opera could do better on but it still craps all over chrome, edge etc in my opinion. I've used Firefox/Mozarella Firedog for years, edge for a few months and opera gx since chrome/firefox starting being meh. Only thing stopping me using vivaldi is my lazy ass to set it up completely lol

Opera has 3% and Vivaldi less than 1% and that is only thanks to tech people, who actually tried it.
Just seen this, Opera gx may only have 3% but thats still around 8 MILLION users, So yeah pretty popular still.
And Vivaldi has around 2.3 million as of september 2021. Still a lot of people using em regardless of the Chrome domination.

Hehe... I was looking for something completely different and found myself on this forum. Then, out of curiosity, I searched for Vivaldi as it looks like a forum where browsers might be discussed. And that's how I got to this thread.

As for the Vivaldi.com homepage, it's like a living organism, constantly being updated with new content and improvements based on user feedback just like yours.

Hey, Do you know if its possible to import everything from Opera GX?
There's unfortunately no easy import from Opera GX just yet, but I put in a request to the dev team just now.

That doesn't mean importing is impossible, just requires a bit more work.

What's included in "everything"? If you tell me which data is most important for you to transfer, I'll get you the instructions.

Thats all good! I did expect it with it being one of the less popular browsers, Just usual things like bookmarks bar/Themes/passwords/extensions and VPN. GX has a VPN built in which is pretty nifty, Not a biggie though but a nice to have!
I could probably go through it and sort it myself without too much fuss but thought id ask incase there was an easy route i'd missed!
Thank you!

You can definitely import bookmarks and passwords. You'll just need to export the HTML and CSV files from Opera GX and then import them to Vivaldi. Check this Help article for instrcutions.

Since the user interfaces of Vivaldi and Opera GX are completely different, transferring themes is unfortunately not possible. Are there even any browsers that can import themes?

Unfortunately, there's no extension import either (there might be some security reasons for that), but the ones from Chrome Web Store work for sure.

Despite the name, Opera's VPN isn't a real VPN, is it? AFAIK, it's more like an anonymizing secure web proxy. I'd recommend using a proper VPN service, if you want to secure your connections.

Here's a question I couldn't find the answer to with a quick skim over the site - can you synchronize the browser to different computers like Edge can do? That's a must for me.

I see Google Extensions work on Vivaldi, so that's a great thing. But it's really the browser synch I'm interested in.

Yes! If you have Vivaldi on multiple devices (on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android), you can keep your data in sync across them all. The data is all end-to-end encrypted too.
Excellent! I'm working at the moment (mostly) and don't have time to install it. But I'll bookmark this thread and circle back to it when I have more time! Thanks for your assistance!

Sweet i thought that'd be the case thanks! As for themes you're right, i've never actually tried to do it or bothered as its prob impossible so ignore my daftness on that one!
As for extensions, I can use chrome extensions on GX via an extension believe it or not so i have both libraries available for those which is sweet.
Asa for the VPN, Yeah it isn't technically as full on as Nord/expressvpn etc etc but its helpful for a few websites. I dont need the full on functionality, GX's, lets call it "Slim VPN" does what i need it to. Be cool if Vivaldi had a similar Slim VPN

Okay. I've installed it, imported my bookmarks from Edge, and will give Vivaldi a try. I notice there's no autocomplete. :( I really like that Edge feature. Once I've tested it out on my main system, I'll install it on my laptop and see about the synchronization feature. We'll see how it goes!

That's fine...,
I just find it annoying to have to scroll down, up, sideways, backwards way, upside down for eight days.... just to gather a few tid-bits of curiosity info! :p
I'm with you, Edwin! I have used Vivaldi before, but it wasn't so . . . so . . . huge. It has changed drastically, and with that huge font filling my 27" monitor, I just couldn't take it. :(

I'm happy with Firefox and Brave as my backup.

@Jane - oh, another question. I've been spoiled by autocomplete. Does Vivaldi support this? It's not a huge issue, but it sure would be nice to have!
It does as far as im aware :)
Its insanely customisable which is real nice
