Voice to text--trying to make it work in on-line reply boxes

It's a good idea to make sure your environment is relatively quiet, and speak slowly and clearly, using full words, try not to use slang or slurs, and try to use clear enunciation, if possible.
I forgot one important thing...,
it will make a world of difference if you have a high quality desktop microphone.

Excellent advice, Edwin.

kind of puts me in mind of the old 'Dragon Naturally Speaking' program. ...although I am still not sure who 'trained' whom. :D

Pretty much the same results using either.
I'm sure both features use the same Speech Recognition engine in Windows, however the new Voice Access app is becoming way more feature rich!

Help links are always useful.
You could open an instance of NotePad and practice to your heart's content.
Perhaps you could find someone willing to help you practice over Skype, or similar.
Hi Edwin; let me answer some of the things that you have asked me here and later in this thread; it will be easier for my arm and hand. let me make a list:>

1--it's pretty quiet here in my bedroom and the family is in the living room or their own rooms.

2--learning to speak properly is the hard part. One of the professional tutorials on Youtube said to talk in a robotic monotone voice and not to stop or pause.

3-- This is hard to do. If I have something written out; like our rules or SOP's I can do a pretty good job at it. But when I need to talk extemporaneously and to try to make it personal and friendly I get all tongue tied.
That's when the voice/text app just spews out garbage--but--it's understandable garbage-- words and whole sentences that can be very insulting if the other person doesn't know I'm using a voice/text app.

In fact--it doesn't always help that they know.

4--I had one person that I was talking to--when the voice/text app was throwing out some of the worst insulting and funny stuff--at least I thought it was funny--say I was using the voice/text app to cover up my true feelings about them. This was a new person to me and I had nothing against them. It took me several days to convince them of this. We are friends now. :-)
That voice/text app can be dangerous! LOLhaha😄

Hello, Mnorian.

Although I can't offer a specific forum for what you are wanting, during the interim search, you are more than welcomed to join myself and others in the Clillout Room. More specifically, TLOTPW thread.

A thread for daily greetings and general banter. ...hello, weather, price of eggs and the like.......... LOL

Feel free to have a look. If you wish to join in, just pull up a seat. :-)

Heck, even @Edwin, graces us with an appearance most days. :p

I'll have a look around in the meantime, and see if I can find a place geared more toward what you're looking for to practice. If so, I'll be sure to let you know.

Regards, WXC
Hi WXC

I tried to get on that thread; but got an error message saying the server was down. That was for the Chillout room.

OK --but I tried the thread itself and got in. I'll take a look around; and see how you's guy's post; don't want to step on any toes. 😄
I'm a weather nut and post weather updates for my forum when I have the time.(y)

You're having the same reaction a couple of my students had when we started learning voice typing.

We use Skype to keep in touch when not in class, and it's amazing how many more folks chime in since voice typing was introduced into their lives! :-)
Hi Wynona!

Are you teaching an older group of people? It is liberating for a person like me with gnarly old hands full of neuropathy to be able to type faster then they did in their 20's! Now if I can get the voice/text app to listen to me properly. I mean it couldn't be my old lazy way of talking; now could it. :-)

Hi Edwin.
Are you saying that you talked the red arrows and the text into the boxes using just your voice? If so; that's awesome! (y)

Yes, I am. And one of my students who likes voice typing so much has hands that don't work all that well. Thankfully, I've escaped arthritis, so can type somewhere around 85 WPM.

I am a member of the Senior Wellness Center, and teach Windows 11 to my fellow seniors.
