Solved Want to require PIN after being away for a set time

Hi,

Currently when I come back to my computer after it having turned the display off because nothing happened for the specified number of minutes, it does NOT require a password. When I've only been away a short time, I'm good with that. When it's been a longer time, I'd like to have it require the PIN to gain access. I'll set the time so that I only have to do that once or twice a day. For the other 20-30 times I step away for short times I'll be PIN-less.

I've only found old no-longer-relevant solutions to this via googling it. I'm fine with editing the registry. I don't want to risk following a windows 8 guide on how to do this, especially as most of the instructions are no longer relevant - things aren't where the guides say they are now.

Another option, is the turn on On resume, display logon screen in the screen saver settings below for the "Wait" time you want. You can leave the screen saver set to "(None)" so you'll still have a blank screen instead of a screen saver.

Thanks a lot. That first one worked perfectly.

It's slightly strange that it brings you the sign-in screen whether the time has expired or not.
When it hasn't expired, you only have to click on that screen and the desktop appears without needing a PIN.
When it has expired you do have to enter the PIN.
I would have expected that when the PIN is not required, waking it up would go immediately to the desktop like it does when you don't have this timer value in your registry at all.
It's not a problem, just a bit unexpected.
