W11 Pro x64 ongoing Canary 29500 latest builds
I was just browsing a forum (not the one in the tab) and had a captcha 'tick box' pop up appear saying 'we have detected suspicious traffic from your network' and to 'prove you are human'.

I ticked the captcha and the message changed to what you see here wanting an acceptance box clicking. I exited and was able to immediately go back to said forum without issue. Never seen anything like this before.

Was this genuine or not?

i have had 'tick this box' to prove you are human on some sites, not many, but there have been a few.
i dont believe it is anything nefarious just more likely to stop the site getting spammed.

Thanks both. The site in question was actually one I have only just registered with and I was having a fair old click through some threads and posts. It was just a UK Electricians forum.

DDOS-GUARD should be avoided:

A typical example of such a trap is the fake "Click allow if you are not a robot" pop-up notification.

These pop-up scams involve tricksters setting up fake verification pop-up notifications on different web pages. When users land on these pages, a verification pop-up appears and directs them to follow the instructions added by the cybercriminals. The scammers try to trick victims into believing that the pop-up is just another captcha pop-up.

In reality, they lure their victims into clicking the Allow button, which, when clicked, enables push notifications from that site. By clicking Allow, victims permit the scammer's website to send notifications via their browser. Following that, scammers use push notifications to harm their victims.
