My 2 month old Western Digital Elements hard drive shows up as 'local disk'

How do I fix this?

I'm running chkdsk

It is at 6890 of 780433 sectors. It says it will take 21 hours

Running chldsk is a slow process especially if you use the /r flag

chkdsk /R implies /F, so /F is not necessary

Also, from chkdsk help...the /I or /C switch reduces the amount of time required to run Chkdsk by skipping certain checks of the volume.

Personally, I don't use /I, or /C.

I was connected to western digital virtual assistant , and my keyboard stopped working

When I input a key , it would open up a window. It's as if the keys were reprogrammed , or remapped

Western digital didn't know what was going on and they they eventually closed the chat session because I wasn't responding.

I could restart my computer but I have check disk running.

But I was with western digital tech help. And they said they were going to help me

I could try contacting western digital while on my cellphone

Hmmmm........ Now say a prayer and hope for the best. The link in @glasskuter's post #2 does not take you to a chatbot. If you had hit on the link provided by him/her, It would have indicated to check the status of your drive in Windows Disk Management.. If it shows as RAW, you have to find out the reason why it went RAW and correct it. If the reason is MFT (Master File Table) corruption you should not run checkdisk. Running Checkdisk when the MFT is corrupt, will delete all data not properly indexed in it.

Anyway, since you have started checkdisk, do not abort it. Let it complete. If at the end you can see all your files you are lucky. If not be happy with whatever you got.
