WD Nas Drive not the same in Windows 11

I have a WD Mybook Nas External drive which I had to disconnect from the internet when WD had security issues.

I have since then operated the drive just for storage connected via USB to my computer running Windows 10, it showed the two shares (drives) I set up in Mybook.
I could open them file explorer and view all the files.

Now I have new computer running Windows 11 Home and when I plug in the Mybook drive I only see a network drive, no shares showing and cannot access files it just takes me to Mybook live login page.

if I unplug and replug into my Windows 10 pc the correct shres show in networks. Pictures attached.

You should be reassured that its security was effective but it's a bit of a waste just using it for storage.

Not quite the answer I was looking for, but thanks for responding, it isn't really a waste as I can use it for backup as well as storage.
Just need to be able to access from Windows 11 like I could in Windows 10.

If you network your Win 10 and Win 11 systems both systems will have access rights

The Windows 10 PC is being replaced by the new Windows 11 PC so unfortunately this isn't a viable option.

There will be a way. Never used a MyBook myself but hopefully another user who has will join in. Which model is it?

Yes I am sure you are right, there must be a way if it can be seen correctly in W10
Not 100% sure of model just says WD MyBook Live Personal Cloud Storage 2TB

Hi, The drive is connected in a USB port via an adapter which is the same way it was connected into Windows 10 PC.
Yes I can log into the drive and see the two shares (as they call them) or files that I made in Windows 10 which is how I see them in Windows 10 in file explorer but files not seen or accessable in W11.

As it is a network drive it doesn't show in Disk Management.

Hmmm... If it's a storage device connected to the PC via USB, it should show up in Device Management. Ok.

BTW, what "adapter" are you talking about?

Also is the is Live Duo or just a Live? - See this - My Book Live and My Book Live Duo Trade-In Offer | Western Digital. Not that the offer applies, but I just want to get an idea what "Mybook Live" you're talking about.

I just recently set up a new 4TB NAS drive, has 2 x 2TB drives in it and set as RAID 1 mirroring [usable capacity 2TB]. It replaced a WDC 2TB MyCloud drive which also had the security issue and couldn't run newer. After copying all the data to the new one I removed the WD from its case and put it in a drive dock connected to my Linux computer. Using GPARTED I viewed the drive and it had several small partitions along with one at 1.8TB. I used GPARTED to wipe the drive and create a single NTFS partition on it. Those small partitions had different formatting, allowed access to a Mapped folder from computers running Linux, Windows and Mac OS X [never had a chance to try the newer macOS]. The interface card in the case did the interpreting for the various OSes.

I did check Device Management and it isn't shown there, in file explorer it shows the drive under networks.
The adapter just converts an ethernet plug to a usb plug, nothing special and worked fine on W10.
It is just Live, not Duo, I have seen that offer but mine doesn't qualify apparently, it was bought 10 years ago..!

I will reconnect it to my W10 pc which I still have at the moment to see if it shows in Disk management on there or any other differences.

Yeah, that's why I asked how it was connected as the MyBook Live's I've seen are network (ethernet) connected.

Anyway, I know nothing of an ethernet to USB adapter as I've never used them, but does your adapter require a driver? What does Device Manager say? To be honest, if Windows is seeing the drive there should be an issue there, but...?

With that, seeing you're using an ethernet to USB adapter, that explains why the drive is not showing up in Disk Management.

At this point, I've no answers to your issue at this moment.

Anyway, seeing you're using an ethernet to USB adapter, that explains why the drive is not showing up in Disk Management.

All that said, at this point, I've no answers to your issue at this moment.

Correct, Disk Management doesn't recognize my NAS drive connected to the Wireless Router via Ethernet cable and Mapped from any computer whether Wired or Wireless. Nor does Device Manager.

Thanks. Yeah, I know you can't see a NAS or networked drive in Disk Management, but I was thrown when the OP said they connected via USB. Anyway, you can see a NAS drive in Device Manager...

And yes, I also have mapped drives from my NAS

Did you try logging in? There is probably a setup that needs to be done before W11 can recognize your WD. The option to use it as USB drive may be available once you login. When the setup is done you can probably log out again everything should be ok again.

When you say logging in, do you mean logging in to the MyBook drive, if so yes I have done that but makes no difference and cannot see anything to set up, unless you mean logging in to something else?
