I'm using this in order to disable system protection:

Turn On or Off System Protection for Drives in Windows 11

But noticed it does not completely disable the system protection properties like this one for Windows 10:

So what's the difference between the two and can I use the second one (the one from the Tenforums link) with Windows 11? when using the first one protecton was OFF but after a few days upon checking on the protection page it was back to ON.

I use the Ten Forums one... it works.

You can right click any .reg file and choose: Open with... and choose Notepad.
That will let you "see" what's in the .reg file.

I don't know why they're different, maybe @Brink does.
The Win 11 tutorial says: System Protection, and the Win 10 tutorial says: System Restore.

The thing is that when using "disable system protection" from 11forum for my desktop with W11 and using "disable system protection" from 10forums for my laptop with W10 both of these "disable system protection" do not really disable the system protection for me, it becomes OFF but later they get back to ON, but when using "Disable System Restore" from 10forums for both of my W11 and W10 it gets completely disabled.

Lets see what Brink has to say about this.

BOTH methods do disable System Restore.
The only difference is that the method in the Windows 11 tutorial forces the System Protection page to accurately show that System Restore is off. So the Windows 11 method is more correct, even though both methods work.

The three "disabled by your system administrator" lines are the same for both methods.
The Win 11 method seems to just fix what shows in the RED box.
BOTH methods disable System Restore, so you can use whichever one you want.
If you have OCD, use the Windows 11 method.

The first method for me does not disable the "configure" button, only the second method does.

What's the difference?

This turns off System Restore service, but leaves the current config alone. If you re-enable SR, you don't have to select which drive(s) and set the backup frequency.

Code:

"DisableSR"=dword:00000001

This line removes the list of drives protected by System Restore:

"{09F7EDC5-294E-4180-AF6A-FB0E6A0E9513}"=-

This sets the save frequency to never to backup:

If I have already used the first one "This turns off System Restore service" there's no point in using the last one "This sets the save frequency to never to backup" correct?

Correct. Think of this analogy:

You switched off your car's ignition to make the engine stop running. At this point, does unplugging the battery make a difference to having the engine run? No, but you will have to plug the battery back in if you want the ignition to work again.

A common mistake I see in guides related to reg tweaking, is when someone changes the master "switch" to a feature. But assuming that was the on/off switch, then there's no point in tweaking the individual settings further to disable things.

So for some reason after using the first one noticed that the protection for C was ON even thought at first it was OFF, then on a fresh OS install used the first one plus the third and after some time the protection for C came On again, any idea why this is happening?

Don't look at the Protection setting "window", look at the three sentences (one above and two below).

Yes I see them, but I was wondering about that "ON", since it was OFF but then suddenly it's ON, why did it change all of a sudden?

I presume you allowed Windows Update to patch your fresh install? The test would be to re-install Windows, log on, then unplug the network for an hour or so. Check if the setting magically changes on you.

Yes after installing Windows I usually check for and install updates. I'm going to test what you said on the next fresh OS install, for now I just ran again the third .reg and it turned it OFF.
