They used to be better.
My worrst laptop ever, now is a Dell. Actually it's the one I'm using now. It's constantly running CPU at 100 degrees, the fan is always on.
It takes 3 hours to charge, yet 45 minutes to discharge. It's an XPS 13. My last Dell I think.

It used to have major USB power issues, like constantly disconnecting any USB-C device you connect to it, but it took half a year only to fix that. Thanks.

They haven't called them Lattitudes (or XPS) for a year now. Same tiers of budget to business quality, but a whole new set of names.

Dell has recently brought back the XPS designation. I just purchased a new XPS a few weeks ago. It's my System One listed below. I like it a lot.

Not only Dell have issues, other manufacturers have too. A guess for many posters with a Dell in their computer specs is that it has a good reputation and great support, so too many bought Dell. This doesn't mean everyone in Elevenforum is a Dell owner or that Dell computers have the most issues.

I have not read up on flock cameras.. But isn't those the police?
As i dont live in US i going half against my own rule about assumptions with making an assumption-question.. Google is selling your data.. but the police dont... So google is worse in my book, even i think it has gone wayyyy to far in US with the mass-surveillance you have over there.

Dell probably have the major share of corporate devices. I have worked for various major corporations and Dells have always been reliable.

Frankly, I do not think there is much to choose in the majors like HP, Lenovo, Asus etc.

I am not sure I really understand why you make a somewhat strong statement that you will never use a Dell given you say you have never owned one.

I can understand if you have had a bad experience but otherwise isn't the statement just based on hearsay?

It seems to me from reading this forum that Dells are quirky, and that makes troubleshooting harder for home users, and also the support seems reluctant to deal promptly with customers' issues with a lot of toing and froing.

I can't tell about other countries, but here in Greece Dell has very good support even for individuals. Depending on the support kind of the specific model, they can pay for shipping them the laptop and repair it, or even better they come and fix it at your place. Far from reluctant to help.

Google doesn't specifically sell your data. We all are part of statistic research. They sell specific statistics to companies that target specific groups, not anyone's particular data. And yes, once you search for a product you constantly see relevant ads, that's not secret. As you may know there are too many surveillance cameras in most major cities around the world. Not only in USA or UK. Recently here in Greece the Traffic Regulations become much stricter and the fines much higher. So they installed a lot of traffic cameras. You practically cannot do anything without being recorded. The cameras can even tell if you drive alone, if you wear your seatbelt and other details. They have even put mobile cameras on select buses to catch anyone driving on the bus lane or without seatbelt or helmet or whatever else. Cameras on the traffic lights can tell not only if you pass a red light but also if you stop after the border and automatically issue a fine which is send to our account on gov.gr

From all laptops, I've worked with (thousands), Dell and HP has been the most problematic. Don't get me wrong, both brands are great, but because of a lot of custom and proprietary software and hardware, plus extreme sensitivity to RAM modules used, it causes a lot of issues.

Lenovo, ThinkPads in particular has been the most reliable and easy to work with machines in my experience. Asus, comes as at good second place.

Have not checked recently, but a few years ago Lenovo had very bad support here in Greece. I was working at RMA department of a computer store and we had to file a report to Consumer Rights Institution to force Lenovo Greece honor the Warranty in some cases. After too many reports we had been friends with the client and talked in singular.

As I've said before, my System One is my 7th Dell XPS Premium laptop. I'm in the USA and Dell support has always been superb here. If ever I've had a question or problem, I've easily and quickly gotten help from Dell support. If I need onsite support, they come right to my home. I never have to send my Dell to them. Dell's support is a prime reason that this is my 7th Dell.
