Why do I have 2 'Documents' folders in my File Explorer ?

Hello, it is my first post. It is normal to have 2 'Documents' folders in File Explorer ?



One is going to: > xxx - Personal > Documents
but in reality it is: C:\Users\chris\OneDrive\Documents



and the other one is going to: > xxx - Personal > Desktop > Documents
But in reality it is: C:\Users\chris\OneDrive\Desktop\Documents

Probably need to reset quick access/ home.

I have applied the reset of Quick Access by following the instructions in the provided link.
But I still have 2 'Documents' folder. I then wanted to delete the content of 'C:\Users\chris\OneDrive\Desktop\Documents':


But when I delete 'Sketching', I have this error message and the files comes back:


It is saying it is OneNote shortcuts, I do not understand why I cannot delete it.

WOW! One more tweak added to my Win-11 Utils Folder.

Hi,
You'd have to look at your onedrive settings and remove the folder that way.
Reality is onedrive as it says are just shortcuts the lower doc/ pic/... are not so only duplicate is just under home not under this pc

This is an interesting location though

I have looked into OneDrive settings, there is no possibility to change the Documents folder :

I have not named a folder documents on my desktop. It has arrived here I do not know how.
For sure it is not me that has created it

Does it have a shortcut symbol on it ?

This should be where the only documents folder besides pinning it to quick access or onedrive in your case.

It does not have a shortcut on it.
And both Document folders have the same icon:

But I cannot remove the one of the desktop because it is impossible. I have this error message:

On the 1st picture of my 1st post, it was with out 'Show all folders' Not selected.
And here it is with 'Show all folders' selected :

Neither of them show any pinned icons beside the the entries

And you have google drive disk
This pc way at the bottom of all that lol yeah you got a pretty good mess going on
Once again unless you moved it the only location for Documents/ pictures/... are at you user name folder

This PC/ C:/ Users/ Users/ Your user name
So go to the above location and right click Documents folder and hit properties/ location tab and restore default location.

One of 'Documents' has no Location Tab :


But the other has a Location Tab :


but when I try to enter the correct path "C:\Users\chris\Documents" (I am correct with this path ?) :

When clicking on OK, I have this pop-up coming up :

and whatever I choose YES or NO, I always have this error message coming up :

Onedrive.com and remove any existence of Documents from being there, seeing it's not supposed to be on your desktop

Thank you for the tip of removing it from the website Onedrive.com , this way I could remove Documents from desktop. And then I have changed the locations:

Are these locations the correct default one ?
- Desktop: C:\Users\chris\Desktop
- Downloads: C:\Users\chris\Downloads
- Documents: C:\Users\chris\Documents
- Music: C:\Users\chris\Music
- Pictures: C:\Users\chris\Pictures
- Videos: C:\Users\chris\Videos

Yeah pretty much
Thing is those folders you show are pinned shortcuts "that I can not see the pin symbols" to the locations you state
The real folders desktop/ downloads/.... are down under This PC not near the top close to onedrive/ home crap.



You could put all the Home shortcut nonsense at the bottom of the navigation pane now and just have this pc up top which has the same desktop/ downloads/... listings
This pc also shows all your connected drives like the G google drive.

I personally hate the new home crap but you at least got the desktop taken care of so atm is a lot better.

Only bad thing is not being able to see the pins you may actually unpin an entry accidentally this is why this pc is more to my liking there's nothing to unpin.
