Why no AMD X770 chipset?

Probably a logical explanation but why have AMD gone X370, X470, X570, X670 to.... X870?

Why not X770?

It probably didn't work as desired, it may have run afoul of copyright rules [why Intel couldn't copyright a number for the 80586 CPU and used Pentium], couldn't get motherboard makers to use, any other guess so would have to ask AMD.

What's truly baffling is Intel was expected to move to 800-series naming because it currently offers 700-series chipsets, such as Z790, B760, and H770. Therefore, the arrival of Z890, B850, and H810 is no surprise. However, AMD is currently using 600-series for its own branding, including X670 and B650, so it was expected to move to 700-series for next-gen, but it jumped the line and skipped to 800 instead. We're not sure why it did this other than to have parity with Intel's branding instead of appearing like AMD's "new" chipsets were equivalent to Intel's previous chipsets, but it will confuse people.

Intel uses 7xx for their chipsets so if AMD also used it, it could cause confusion.
