I was having difficulty downloading and installing Oracle's virtual machine.

I read an article that said certain virtual machines will not run on some versions of Windows 11. It will download but it won't install. I tried 2 dozen times after adjustments.

Does anyone know anything about this incompatibility or malfunction?

Assuming you are referring to the Free version and not the Enterprise version:

From what I can see, they don't have W11 listed as compatible:
Guest_OSes – Oracle VM VirtualBox

However, I was able to install it on a test VM running W11 Pro:

Be sure to rule out OS corruption...

Also look at your BIOS/EUFI settings to ensure you have virtualization enabled...

you certainly can install Oracle virtualbox on Windows 11 home or pro and run virtual machines. And virtualbox 7 allows you to run Windows 11 virtual machines without having to bypass any security requirements.

the key phrase in the extract you showed is NOT LIMITED TO etc etc.

I don't use it now but VBOX will certainly run on a W11 Host machines and can create W11 Guests too.

Thanks for the advice. I wiill keep working on it. I do know that the inability for Win 11 Pro, at least, not being able to run Oracle's VM was all over the web and this am the 3 fixes are in their place.
I have run Defender and MBAM then SFC+all seem ok.

Don't know where you saw that, but it's wrong. I've just installed it successfully.

The only thing that could stop you installing VirtualBox would be if you do not have the Visual C++ redistributables installed.

But that's easily fixed.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. I appreciate your help. I remember while trying to build the VM mention of TPM and some other initials.
I have secure boot and TPM enabled. Could that be the reason?

I have them both enabled, but on my system Win11 Pro 22H2 installing Oracle VirtualBox 7 was no problem at all.
But I have to say that the install was some time ago, when I installed the new system in febr. 2023.
May be something in the Windows system changed in such a way that installing VB is not possible anymore.

Hi Marianna,

Just to clarify, I'm a little confused now based on your original post.
Were you reporting an issue with:
  1. Installing Virtual Box on a Windows 11 system?
  2. Installing Windows 11 Pro as a VM in Virtual Box?
My original test was based on #1 above being your issue/question so I installed Virtual Box in a W11Pro VM using VMware Workstation 17 Pro.
I don't use Virtual Box and I haven't tested #2 above so I don't know for a fact if Virtual Box will support Win 11 or not. It sounds like others have had success - even though Oracle has not declared it officially compatible on their site that I linked originally.
