Since I have Group Policy set to "2" and it seems that enough users are having problems with this cumulative update, I'm going to hold off on it for now. I would rather not have to deal with any kind of recovery options at this time.
How long can I postpone this update? Til the next Patch Tuesday I would assume?

Now for the Windows Security platform update KB5007651 which I've read can be a can of worms.
I don't use 3rd party anti-virus so I think I should be good with it? Should I just download it now or wait til I get the previously mentioned cumulative update?

And what about the .NET cumulative update KB5066131 that also shows up in the list? Any issues with that and can i download that one separately or should it go together with KB5066835 when I'm ready for it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, sorry for the lack of activity in your thread.

I use WAU Manager to take over from Windows Update. It’s lightweight unobtrusive and simple to use.

After checking the small box at the top to allow WAU Manager to take over, checking the “Normal” option below it, you can click “Update Windows Now” and it will show you the available updates before proceeding. You can chose not to proceed or select updates to install.
It can also uninstall updates and check for installed software updates.

Check or uncheck updates you want to install.

Neither of those should be dependent on a cumulative update, that I am aware of. So they should be safe to install independently.

KB5066835 is annoying, it should be a toggle, i dont know why theyre hardcoding all of this

it makes multiple users scanning into a network location nearly ununsable, it removes the preview pane for some filetypes (e.g. PDF) when the file is highlighted in explorer and it is located in a network folder

i ended up removing it and hiding it with this(in necessary cases): https://download.microsoft.com/down...9cd-4275-8c95-1be17bf70b21/wushowhide.diagcab

Hey, thanks for the responses. I decided to go ahead with all 3 updates a couple days ago and all went well! Its for my laptop and I don't use a USB mouse so not sure if the issue with using WindowsRE would've come up. Today I ran DISM and SFC with no problems.
Haven't been offered that Out of Band update KB5070773 from Oct 20 which if fine by me!
