Win11 Home update sale

Be wary doing business with StackSocial.

When I saw the original post I was curious and took a look at the offers and found what appeared to be a great deal on MS Office 2017. We have two PC's...a A Win10 desktop and a Win11 laptop, both running an older version of Office...with no issues. I purchased two copies of Office for $40 + tax. My card was charged and a day or so later I was notified to "complete the sale" by clicking a link. So far everything seemed legit so I clicked the link on one of the two purchases. It was then and only then that a notice popped up stating that the software could only be installed once and that had to occur within 30-days. Wow...the software came with a handy built-in "time bomb" rendering the software uninstalleable after 30-days.

Now, many people might agree that a 30-day time limit on installing software is reasonable. But stuff happens and every other piece of software I've ever purchased had no built-time self-destruct clock ticking away. Consider..from what point in time does the self-destruct clock begin? Order date? Ship date? Delivery date? What if the software needs to be re-installed? If I replace our Win10 platform after the 30-day time limit expires am I SOL?

I reached out to customer service to cancel the purchase and requested a refund. Not so fast, was their response. You should have requested a refund before you confirmed the sale. But the installation and refund conditions were not revealed until after the sale was confirmed. This stinks to high heaven. They claimed they did refund my second purchase but that refund has yet to hit my CC account.

I'd very much like my $20+ back in my pocket so I will be opening a dispute with my CC company. And I'm not putting any blame on the OP. Not at all. Social Stack may very well be a legit re-seller. My only beef is that ALL conditions of the sale should be front and center prior to purchase.

FYI...Stack Social issued a full refund even for the item I had "confirmed".
