i can add a statement to this as I'm a pro on abusing memory overcommitment and swap(memory paging).

I ran down my Micron m550 256 GB disk in just three years.
It will be interesting to see how long this Crucial disk will keep up.

In writing moment i have 12,6GB in swap and i have more or less a steady stream of short 100K/s writes every 30-60 seconds

Setting a page file to 50 GB is not what a normal home user would do.

I've never faced any of these issues with dozens of browser tabs open. If I ever get to 10-12 tabs, I know it's time to close them and start over.

What do people do that warrants keeping 50 tabs open?
How do you find the tab you want in that mess?
Given the transient nature of browser pages, what makes you think that the info you need will still be in the tab?

When I close my browser, the tabs are gone! That's the way I like it. I still have the history if I really need an old tab.

I do a lot of research, project searches and also keeping up with IT searches... so i have around 1000 tabs split on 21 Firefox windows

The pages i have open seldom changes as its often articles or information pages... But you are right some do change from time to time.

That is about right as automatically managed page file starts out with an amount equal to your RAM divided by 8.

So 64 divided by 8 would give you 8.

Have you tried setting to no page file reboot then set back to windows managed?

The amount I stated was the starting amount.

If you did something that windows thinks it needed more it would increase and may not give it back.

..... not really.. i do have a system.. each window is its own topic and then i separate sub-leads in the window with an empty tab. So i have a system

I cant show the about: processes as it contain information about the content of open pages.. @Brink would kill me slowly if i showed things related to pentesting/ethical hacking.

It has to refresh the page when the tab goes into sleep, but you can also set certain pages not to go to sleep.

But if you have 50-60 tabs open live, then yeah you'll have to look into memory especially with webpages with a lot of animation and javascript running in the background.

Sounds like you'll have to get that extra 32GB of RAM, and that'll be expensive. You'll be faced with a tradeoff.

Lab rated estimates are based on perfect environments. Every person is using their drives differently, and each drive is not made exactly the same. Some drives can wear and die prematurely, and given the current market where SSDs are only rising in price continuously due to the AI boom I am just giving a friendly piece of information.

I can easily witness just how much browsers write to the disk by opening resource monitor, and choosing disk then selecting the browser. Modern version of browsers write an enormous amount to the disk. I personally have symlinked my user data to a secondary drive just to keep the wear off my OS drive.

This is why i have inactivated browser disk cache in Firefox and Waterfox.. it also saves disk-space

i dont think that is possible. i dont know as i never used Chrome in my life.. but disk cache is good meta-data and google love meta-data so they probibly want it to stay there... now i do breaking my own rule of assumptions i have in my signature.... but so be it... google is google

Understood. Very true that everyone does things differently. I've been doing computer support now for about 40 years now and in that time I've had several mechanical hard drives fail on me. I've had 2 SSD hard drives at a business I supported fail. But knock on wood (or plastic and metal today) I've never had an SSD drive fail on me. I sure hope saying so I don't end up with one failing. My point is that I have 54TB of online storage and do massive amounts of testing and scripting and SQL operations and I've never once so far managed to kill off an SSD or NVMe drive.

My experiences may not be the same as others. Thank you again for your feedback

Like @Ghot said in a previous post. Instead of keeping all those tabs open why don't you have bookmarks for them and only open a tab when you really need to?

I have many hundreds of bookmarks and only open the tabs as needed. Note I organize the bookmarks in folders. All the folders are immediately accessible on the Bookmark Toolbar.
