Most of us have been running 1.64.2 of winaero tweaker since around Dec 11, 2025 so I don't think it's possible for a trojan to suddenly inject itself without another update being accomplished. Has to be a Windows Security Update flagging it for everyone today.

Yes I know that, but 1.63 is not giving MS a fit, so I will stick with it as it does what I need it to do. I was running it just fine till this am. I advised the Developer so maybe he can straighten it out with MS.

Good to know as I'm probably going to need it on my ARM64 machine now. FYI, an easy way to have 1.64.2 load on intel machines is just select the WinareoTweaker.exe file properties, compatibility tab, and select Windows 8. It will load right up with no Windows Security issues that way. I tried adding the file as an exclusion in Windows Security but it still blocks it even excluded.

Quick question, how did you temporarily turn off Windows Security? If I can load Winareo then turn Security back on for the ARM64 machine that would work.

I am running version 1.64.2.0 Winaero Tweaker.
It worked until Windows Defender KB2267602 version 1.443.931.0 and 1.443.916.0 installed on 01-30-2026.
Then WT failed to launch.
Tried first setting to run as administrator.
No go.
After uninstalling and re-installing WT twice, still NO GO.
Current solution that worked was setting WT to run in compatibility mode Win 8.0 as administrator.
I'd prefer to add an exception to Windows Defender, however, I am too much of a novice computer user to know where to start or what to enter to Windows Defender to allow WT 1.64.2.0 in Windows 11 native.

I'm open to suggestions/instructions to add exception definition to Windows Defender.

Ah so that's the specific culprit, thanks! The exception didn't help for me, it still wouldn't load.

Yeah, soon as Winareo loads you can turn it back on so that'll work for the ARM machine and the Win 8 Compatibility mode works great for the intel machines. Couldn't believe the exclusion doesn't work as a workaround.
