I have Windhawk portable set to start on login, which it does fine, but it also shows the Windhark application page (home, explore, settings, about). I haven't been able to stop this from happening and am hoping someone here can tell me how. Thanks for any help.

In about May 2024 I have been doing several tests with Windhawk.

One of the problems I noted, is that some functions do not work, when you install Windhawk as portable.
I had (as far as I remember) some problems with altered taskbar labels size, that is activated only after restart of the Explorer and so not at system start. The normal installed version did not have that problem.

So my advice: why, if you would like to keep using Windhawk, would you want it to function as portable? Portable programs often have problems if you want to start them automatically at system startup (or user login). Remove the program after noting what you changed until now and install it normal.

I did not continue using Windhawk, because I only needed it for tweaking the taskbar, for which I already had a functioning solution (StartAllBack). But as I was curious what I could achieve with Windhawk, I did a test. Disadvantage with Windhawk is, that it takes a huge amount of diskspace when installed, because all the programming facilities are installed with it. It took about 600-700 MByte for just tweaking the taskbar, where StartAllBack only needs less than 10 Mbyte! And it's a rather complicated program to set up...

Thank you for your replies. I prefer using portable software if it is available and works properly. Does StartAllBack allow customization of the date and time in the systray clock? I didn't see this noted on the web page.

To a certain degree, yes.

Certain degree? Can it do what I have Windhawk do:

Wed Nov 27

I was a long time user of TClock on Win 10, but couldn't get any of their versions to work with Win 11.

create a shortcut to the exe. edit the properties and make the target line:

"C:\path\to\windhawk.exe" -tray-only

place that shortcut in shell:startup folder and it wont show the main window at launch

Can it do what I have Windhawk do:
Not within itself. (You actually don't even need SAB to do that!)
You still need to format in Control Panel/Region...

I've never understood the leading 0 on the hour, when you have 12 hour format and separate AM and PM symbols!
(Windows always defaults it that way!) 🤷‍♂️

Anyway..., here's mine..., and it's done within Control Panel...

Dacrone: thank you for the shortcut mod. I had seen that in my research, but thought it was only for command line usage; it solved the problem.

Edwin: I believe changing the format in Control Panel/Region will result in changes in more than just the systray; I had modified the short date and ended up with the day (Sun, Mon, etc.) added to the Date Modified in File Explorer, which I don't need.

I had tried Elevenclock, but couldn't edit the items in the date/time box (as noted in a previous post). If anyone knows of a TClock app that works on Win 11, I'd be most appreciative.

Adding the switch to the shortcut was the third thing in the link I posted. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sorry I missed that. Following up on my TClock message, where a few folks recommended Elevenclock, I had tried that then but couldn't edit the date/time format. I just reinstalled it (Elevenclock) and still cannot edit the date/time format (I can put the cursor in the box, but can't type anything). My ID has admin rights. Any ideas how to get this editing to work? I do like Elevenclock's ability to change font format.

With StartAllBack, you can customize the font, with one drawback..., any pt larger than 12 and you lose the date...

... unless you increase the size of the Taskbar...
