Hi all. I was doing something on my partner's Windows 10 PC and I noticed that the restart icon in the system tray looked a bit different (orange dot). When I clicked on Update and Security, lo and behold, the PC was asking when to restart to upgrade to Windows 11. Is there any way to prevent the upgrade from happening? I've postponed it for a few days and the way he uses the PC (mostly web surfing) it probably won't matter much but it's very definitely the principle of the thing. Nobody ever clicked on the "Download and Install" button for Windows 11.

Hi Rob You are not the only one' I was stung about 4 weeks ago Microsoft has Dominated acces to everything! I cannot move without MS asking for another Password or Pin Number? My "Users Accounts has Old accounts still listed and no new one's except a Local Account I created and Task Manager shows 2 of the Old Accounts are running in the Background and Permissions are all wrong as well, I too' was being safe as I thought it was a Standard Windows10 update I was waiting for time to check it out' but one morning I forgot and clicked on it and installed it. It's just so Biased to MS it's convuluted and it's misleading. I feel like it's only letting me borrow my own computer? But thats your friends choice, I am certainly no Master at this game, so in my humble opinion from a bad experience I would leave it for your friend to make that decision Cheers Dasha  :cautious:

Dasha: Are you saying that you couldn't log into your PC after the upgrade? My friend logs on using a PIN. As for my friend making the decision, he's really not computer literate; he just wants to use his computer for simple things. I am beyond annoyed at this.

I found Steve Gibson's InControl utility; it seems to have stopped the attempt. Still annoyed as hell.
