Thank you. It's all green so nothing has changed since Win 11 was installed.

Ok, what we've learned so far is that the upgrade "should" work, but doesn't.

1. Someone suggested to uninstall ESET, you disabled it instead. Might be an issue.
2. The single language thing... that probably isn't an issue... but who really knows.

Where to go from here...

1. Clean install. (yeah it's a pain, but it saves a lot of troubleshooting).
2. Spend 3-4 days troubleshooting with the aid of @zbook.
3. Everything else "looks" fine.

The people that have responded, know what they're doing.
If their suggestions don't work, then it's time to go to the "Where do we go from here..." solutions.
We've already given you, things that should work, to the best of our ability.

It's looking like Windows is seriously borked somewhere, or some third party program is causing problems.
That's why... clean install or @zbook

Unfortunately for all of us... the days of Googling an error code and finding a solution, are long gone.
"zbook" should appear in about 12-14 hours.

If it was me, I'd export the drivers and then do a clean install, then make a backup with 3rd party backup software... first thing. Don't forget to export your bookmarks as well.

Sometimes, ya just gotta say "frick it" and start over.

I have seen this problem on several PCs. New, supported PCs cannot upgrade from 2H21 to 2H22 Win11. Error. Several attempts fail.
I tried 10 different ways to finally be able to upgrade from 21H2 to 22H2. Using the media creation tool and making a USB of it was the only way. ALL my files etc stayed in place I didnt lose a thing. Only thing I had to do was change my wallpaper and a few other settings that were minor. Need help message me.

Earlier in the thread there were comments in post #22.

In case the post was missed the steps can be performed now.

In case you want to give up troubleshooting you can have Windows save files and install a fresh windows version.
Drivers and applications need to be reinstalled.

Another option is to manually backup files and then perform a clean install.

Uninstall ESET Antivirus, not just disable. Upgrade offline from the ISO, just as we suggest and reinstall ESET. It is dar easier than a clean installation. Try that first.

Hi,
Try this or I think you need to carryout a fresh install: -

Please create a backup of your system if you haven't done so already, open a command prompt from the Windows Recovery (Windows RE) environment using the Windows USB/DVD you created earlier?

diskpart - Opens the Disk Partitionning tool
select disk 0 - Will select your first hard drive (the one with the Windows partition on it)
list volume - Note the number of the partition that have no drive letter assigned to it, is of 260MB of size and have "FAT32" listed under the "FS" column
select volume X - X will be the number of your partition with a size of 260MB, the EFI System Partition one that you identified in the last command
assign letter=Z: - It'll assign the Z: letter to the EFI System Partition
exit - To exit the diskpart utility

Now you'll be back in the command prompt, enter the following commands:

cd /d Z:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot - Goes to the "Boot" directory in the Z: partition
attrib Z:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD -h -r -s - Removes the hidden, read-only and system attributes from the BCD folder
ren Z:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD BCD.old - Renamed the BCD folder to BCD.old
bootrec /rebuildbcd - This command will rebuild the BCD.

When it asks you Add the installation to boot list?, press on y followed by Enter and if it succeed, you'll have a The operation completed successfully message. Once you're done, close the command prompt, restart your computer and try to upgrade again.

Have you disconnected from the internet before upgrading? If your computer is not 100% compliant or you have a legacy installation (not UEFI) you must treat it as incompatible to bypass compatibility check and let you upgrade. Read the respective thread.

Have you disconnected from the internet before upgrading? If your computer is not 100% compliant or you have a legacy installation (not UEFI) you must treat it as incompatible to bypass compatibility check and let you upgrade. Read the respective thread.
mine is a asus branded pc...havent started the upgrade so far(BIOS is UEFI)

For a successful upgrade from Windows 10 or Windows 11 21H2 to Windows 11 22H2 of any computer with 64-bit CPU and at least 4GB RAM you must replace the hidden file C:\$Windows.~BT\sources\appraiserres.dll with any empty dummy at first Setup screen BEFORE proceeding. You must also stay disconnected from the internet to prevent any driver updates or secret online compatibility check which would fail the upgrade. To create the empty dummy change settings to not hide known extensions and create a new text document on your desktop (right-click, New->Text document). Then rename it to appraiserres.dll making sure you also delete the .txt extension, or it won't work. Go to the hidden folder delete the original file and then copy-paste the dummy file. You can then proceed with the upgrade. Stay offline until a successful upgrade and you are back on your desktop. Then update your drivers if required.

In 21H2 it was enough just to delete the original file appraiserres.dll In 22H2 if the file is missing it fails, so you must replace it with an empty dummy. Also if you stay online it will start upgrading and fail at some point before the first restart due to some secret online compatibility check. If you are disconnected from the internet, it cannot do this test, gives up and proceeds with the upgrade. I have confirmed that at least four times with four different unsupported computers, it cannot be a coincidence. After that I have successfully upgraded at least ten unsupported computers by staying disconnected from the internet during the upgrade.
