Windows 11 22H2 On My Main System.
OK... Here's what went down. I decided to create a local account and delete my Hotmail account. This is on an old test machine "Toshiba Satellite A210 Laptop". So anyway all went as planed and loged into my new local account. I wanted to access Widgets with my Hotmail and got what I wanted. I then restarted my comuter and Low and Behold my Hotmail account came up and windows loged me in! What the H&ll! I went in accounts and my local account that I created was no longer there just the Deleted Hotmail account that Windows so graciously recreated! Someone want to explain this to me please because I'm at a loss as to how this happened.

It is easy to accidentally click a link to change from local to MS account. Just change it back again.

First thank for your reply. All I did was log into Widgets with my Hotmail and later restarted the system. No links were click.

Make sure you video capture the process with your phone! ;-)

This is where you went wrong. You clicked 'Next', when what you should have clicked was 'Microsoft apps only'. What MS mean by 'use this account everywhere...', 'remember your account' and 'making it easier...' is that they will switch your local account to a Microsoft account. When they say' everywhere' the mean litterally everywhere, even as your sign in account.

Click 'Microsoft apps only' and you'll be signed into the widgets, but keep your local account. That's what I do.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022.

Thanks Bree you are 100% Right. That is what I did. When I recreated the issue I selected 'Microsoft apps only' and all is good. MS Got me with their tricky wording. Thank you all.
