Does MS have a link to download Windows 23H2? I want to do a clean install on my wifes laptop and the ISO I downloaded from MS is for 24H2.

If you want to be safe and download everything from Microsoft then you can use the MediaCreationTool.bat script to get the old 23H2 MCT from Microsoft and use it to build the 23H2 ISO (or any other W10 or W11 MCT/ISO, come to that).

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

Wow! I want to thank everyone that replied. I didn't realize there were so many other options. My wife was playing one of her games when all of a sudden a popup came up that gave a warning that a virus was detected. I immediately hit Control>Alt>Delete to shut down her laptop. When it restarted it went straight to her desktop. I had it setup to need the Pin number. Her desktop background had changed to a pic that I never saw before. I had it set to do a slideshow of family pics. I know I could do a Macrium restore and get her back up. The thing is that it's a old image and I feel this is a good time to do a clean install. I don't do regular backups because she doesn't have anything important installed. She only has a few basic games. Some games are from the MS store. The only programs insalled are the free versions of Revo Uninstaller and Macrium. The only time she accesses the internet is once a month to talk to her therapist. I don't know where the popup came from. I do know it wasn't a warning from Windows Defender.

On the plus side. This is going to give me a chance to finally try Rufus to bypass the need to use my MS Account and any other unneeded stuff.

I chose MBR when I made the bootable flash drive and the laptop wouldn't boot. I'm making the boot drive again using GPT.

I have good news and bad news to report. The good news is that Windows installed and is now doing updates. The bad news is that the cooling fan isn't working. It's just making a kind of humming like noise. I asked my wife about it and she said it's been making the noise. She also said she didn't think it was a problem because the laptop still worked. We decided to go ahead and buy a new laptop. I'm going to replace the fan and give the laptop to her sister.

Two laptops and almost 5 hours of driving my wife finally has a new laptop. with the first laptop everything was going good until I got to the screen where I had to enter her name. The keyboard stopped working. I tried using my USB keyboard and I still couldn't type in her name. I had to hold the power button until the laptop shutdown so I could restart. It only got as far as the spinning dots and wouldn't go any farther. I'm still in the process of setting up the second laptop. Using oobe\bypassnro worked great to get her setup without a MS Account. I did have to turn off Device Encryption. I installed the Macrium free version and made an image. I'm doing the Windows updates and when that finishes I'm done for today. I'll finish getting it setup and remove all the junk software she'll never use. Mcaffee is going to be the first to go.

@Winuser, a suggestion, if I may.

Any time I get a new machine, I allow it to install all the latest updates, especially making sure I have the latest from the manufacturers web site. Then, I make a backup of just the drivers like this (from a command prompt):

MD C:\Drivers_Backup
pnputil /export-driver * C:\Drivers_Backup

When that is done, save that folder to a thumb drive, external HD etc. This way, if you ever need to do a clean install again, you can install ALL drivers for the system in one simple operation. Just open Device Manager, right-click the computer name at the top of the device tree and choose to add drivers. Point it to the backup of the folder where you saved drivers. Done!
