Windows 11 23h2 not updating, stopped 8 days ago

Thanks, Try3. I have my whole system and find no record of Office XP, and thinking about it, I have never ever used Office XP, so I don't understand why Windows would offer me this download.

I think it's a fault in Windows update. Hopefully, they'll figure it out and fix it at the next Cumulative update.
Perhaps clearing the WU, Advanced setting for updating other MS programs with WU will stop it [perhaps not].

I thought I would go for the in-place upgrade... Greeted with this.

This PC doesn't currently meet Windows 11
system requirements
Here's why:
Q The PC must support TPM 2.0.
Q The PC must support Secure Boot.
Q The processor isn't supported for this version of Windows.

I thought that the Repair install tutorial contained the extra steps necessary to deal with non-compliant computers.
It seems you'll have to use the tutorial in conjunction with another -
Bypass Windows 11 System Requirements - ElevenForumTutorials

@Brink - I must have blown a fuze. I really thought the Repair install tutorial already contained the steps for dealing with non-compliant computers.

All the best,

Try3 to bypass the windows spec do I use the "Allow_upgrade_to_Windows11_with_unsupported_system_requirements" registry file or do I use the Windows Terminal (Admin) command prompt method, when I moved from 23H2 to 25h2 I just used the command prompt server no issues. I there is a new version ISO would I not be better off trying the server method again?

Ok, so I tried running the registry hack "Allow_upgrade_to_Windows11_with_unsupported_system_requirements", which removed the CPU issue, but nothing else. What started out as a simple upgrade is turning into a pain in the arse.

Windows won't update as it's stuck on both Windows 11, version 25H2 (repair version), and Office XP Service Pack 3

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

A simple solution to updates not working that often sorts update issue is to go to folder c:\windows\softwaredistribution and delete subfolder downloads, then click on check updates. This is my first goto if updates are not working and vast majority of the times, it just sorts it - no other faffing around is needed

It is perfectly safe to delete the downloads folder as it is recreated by Windows if it is not there.

Ok, so here is the latest. After realising there is a Command Prompt in Windows Terminal (Thanks Try3), Windows 11 installation went without a hitch, well, the install went without a hitch; however, I still have no start menu, and the annoying Office XP Service Pack 3 is back and locking any further updates. So after the faffing around over the weekend, all the support from various members, I will have to resort to a fresh install on a new 2TB SSD in the future
