Windows 11 24H2 New Setup for Clean Installs

Why does the new bootable setup for clean installs show both Disk 0 and Disk 1: ESD-USB which is the flash drive it is being installed from. The previous version of Windows setup only shows Disk 0. Also why does a clean install using the new setup leave an empty Windows.old folder on the hard drive which is not removed using disk cleanup. I was able to delete the empty folder manually and it didn't trigger UAC prompt. The bootable Windows setup is based on 26100.1742.

Why are you installing such an old build?

I'm not installing an old build. I'm installing from the 24H2 MCT drive. The MCT USB build is 26100.1742. It's the same build as the 24H2 ISO.

I made an typo in the topic and I also forgot to edit it. I just fixed it using edit thread.

I don't know why it is showing the USB drive so that question I cannot answer. As for the Windows.old folder, @garlin has previously noted that the setup appears to treat even a clean install as an upgrade installation. However, this is no big deal. It occupies no space, and you can simply delete that folder.
