The shift to the Microsoft 365 app as the entry point for Microsoft Copilot will align with the annual Windows 11 feature update release. Changes will be rolled out to managed PCs starting with the optional non-security preview release on September 24, 2024, and following with the monthly security update release on October 8 for all supported versions of Windows 11. These changes will be applied to Windows 10 PCs the month after.

The article said 24H2 would come out for preview releases on September 24 and following with the monthly security update release on October 8 for all supported versions of Windows 11. Do you have a preview release of Windows 11?

I'm currently running the Windows 24H2 preview version. so Microsoft is releasing the official standard version of Windows 24H2. Can my system be upgraded by default to the standard version 24H2? without any hassle or do i need to reinstall Windows 24H2 manually?

There won't be one. The 23H2 > 24H2 feature update will be a full upgrade, replacing all the system files and creating a Windows.old, just like the 21H2 >22H2 feature update was.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

Ridiculous! I've been running Windows 11, Optimum 24H2 (up to V4.2) for many months, and with update packs from X-Lite, I'm now up to Build 26100.1742.
I don't ask or require anything special from any OS. Just run my basic programs and don't fizzle, fahrt, freeze, or BSOD. And don't waste my time.
At 81, I probably don't have much of that left.

In fact, the ver of 24H2 that I'm currently running, installed in less than ten minutes, and runs faster than any previous ver of Windows that I've ever installed. Most of what I'd normally do to Tweak a new OS, has already been done, as well as a very thorough Decrapification.
That just saved me a lot of work!

So the bottom line is: You don't have to wait for the totally Crapified version of 24H2 from MS. :wink:

That's what I figured also.
If an EP was possible, we would have been hearing things like: "It's already installed, just not enabled", long before now.

But one can always hope. :-)

Not a chance. I've seen it in action, 23H2 RP was offered the 24H2 Feature Update at the same time as 24H2 had its public release on Copilot+ PCs. That was back in June this year.
