Your 7th gen i5 7400 is an unsupported processor too.

Try this, it used to work in 23H2. Before running Setup from the ISO open Terminal or a Command Prompt as Admin. Type these registry commands.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

If you've upgraded to 24H2 already with another workaround, then you don't need it. It's just to allow an in-place upgrade on an unsupported device.

I tried installing the iso as a VM, VMWare recognised the iso as 2025 server edition. Tried manual install in the VM and i get a message my computer does not meet the requirements.
Interesting. I might have to give the iso a rufus makeover.

I installed the 24H2 Cumulative update 26100.1882 yesterday. I realized that I got some SFC errors. I decided to revert back to 26100.1742. After this, I paused Windows update for a week to prevent the Cumulative update 26100.1882 from being installed again.

I´m not in a Windows insider program.

Now that 24H2 has been officially released, what happens if I press resume Windows update? Will 26100.1882 be installed again or will the official version be available?

1882 is optionally installed of you have "get latest updates on".

If it is off, you still see the cumulative preview but you manually select it to install.

Hi guys. I really want to update to Windows 11 24H2, but Windows Update is telling me that I currently have an update available: KB5043145. I am concerned/worried about that update as I have been hearing about BSOD's and bootloops with that update. Should I go ahead with installing KB5043145 on my W11 laptop? Thoughts and help appreciated :)

It has not caused me any issues but sfc /scannow does not clear up corrupt OS file it seems. I uninstalled update as a precaution.

If you can wait until Tuesday October 8th then the Patch Tuesday cumulative update will supersede KB5043145 and you won't have to worry about it any more ;)

KB5043145 is an optional Preview update, you are under no obligation to install it. Even if you did though, you are unlikely to see 24H2 being offered as a Feature Update in Windows Update. If all previous feature updates are anything to go by then it will be a phased rollout. Only a very few will see it offered in Windows Update on Day One. My System One was a relatively new machine, even though 23H2 was released on October 31, 2023 the feature update wasn't offered in its Windows Update until November 4th.

If you really want 24H2 ASAP then your only option is to download the ISO and do an in-place manual upgrade.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
