Windows 11 25967.1000 (Canary) Appraiserres.dll Unsupported Work Around Doesn't Work Anymore?

Maybe it's just me, but when I replace the appraiserres.dll in the $Windows.~Bat file for Canary 25967.1000 (with one from Windows 10 or just a blank one) it no longer bypasses the TMP 2.0 check and still gives the PC doesnt meet the Windows 11 system requirements message. Anyone else having this issue? Prior to this verison, replacing of the .dll file worked fine in regards to work around.

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

No, it's not just you. I see the same thing, the feature update to 25967.1000 through Windows Update fails as yours does. Replacing appraiserres.dll with a zero byte dummy file has always worked up for all previous updates.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

Yeah, I also tried it through downloading this version of Windows 11 through a UUP Dump. Same result. If I entirely delete the file it won't contiune on thinking an error has happened. I'm guess Microsoft moved the checking of requirements to a new fire or hard coded that appraiserres file to no longer work around. I wonder if another work around will be found.

Yeah it didn't work for me either. Currently trying my backup method in a VM. My backup method is to simply copy the install.wim file and dump it into the sources folder of the Windows 10 22H2 install files (replacing existing install.wim or install.esd). This does not allow for in-place upgrades but usually works for what is basically a fresh install (nothing saved when installing new version over old version). So far it seems to be working (made it to blue install screen) but not done yet.

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.
What about this gem, which is the only thing I do? It's needed to be updated from time to time but has proven reliable overall. I won't be able to try 25967 until tomorrow or I'd be able to tell you myself.

Replacing appraiserres.dll still works for all versions except the latest Canary build 25967.1000. I used it successfully for the latest Dev Build 23560.1000, released 4th October.

The method I described above (Copying the install.wim file from the 25967 ISO and dumping it into the sources folder of the Windows 10 22H2 install files) did indeed work fine. 25967 is now working great on unsupported hardware. Now I'm going to experiment with trying to dump the install.wim file into the sources folder of the 25951 install files, with the Appraiserres.dll file also replaced, and see if that works also, and maybe allows for in-place upgrades also.

Yes, that works, I already tried it.
One problem, it only works if you are at Build 25951 or lower, it will not work after you update to 25967. 😂🤷‍♂️

25951 was the last Canary build for which the appraiserres workaround still worked.

You could try the suggestion in post #6.

If that fails, and you have an ISO for 25951 (or earlier) then you could try an in-place upgrade with a hybrid ISO. Copy the files from the 25951 ISO to a folder. Replace appraiserres.dll with a dummy one, and replace the sources\install.wim with the one from a 25982 ISO. Then run Setup from your hybrid install folder.

Mount the ISO 25982, use CMD prompt as Administrator, change to the letter where the ISO is mounted (E: or whatever letter it is mounted with) and then enter this command:
setup.exe /product server
that still works and bypasses the requirements checks as long as it is a UEFI machine. 😉👍

Here it stopped working on the DEV channel, I'm trying to update to version 10.0.26052.1100 and I'm not succeeding. I've already tried replacing the AppraiserRes.dll with another one of 0 b and it doesn't work.

I'm trying to perform the update through Windows Update, not a clean installation.
