According to the Google's IA

To make Google the default search engine in Windows 11, you need to change the setting within the Microsoft Edge browser itself, as Windows 11 primarily links search to Bing by default. Open Edge, go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Address bar and search, and then select Google from the dropdown menu.

I've seen other cases in which Edge (and previously Internet Explorer) acts as a part of Windows. I'm not against it. Edge is also a valuable browser although not my preferred one.

Edge (and previously Internet Explorer) acts as a part of Windows.
That's because they are a part of Windows. But you can still change the default search engine in your browser as outlined.

I could be wrong (it's a bit late here...) but that belongs to the new tab. You could change the new tab I suppose.

@MourningStar You should start your own thread. Please tell us what browser you are using? Did you change the default search engine in your browser as outlined in post #2 and #3.

I'm now in a W7. Edge is in Spanish. Retranslating (might not match exactly): ... -> Start page, main page and new tabs -> Page of the new tab . W7 has a somewhat old version of Edge.

I know it was answered and I did the change, but that change was for the address bar, not for the search engine in the new tab. I did not feel a new thread was needed for something quite similar, but you did, so my apologies to you.
