Windows 11 and Secure Boot

Hi,

I was wondering, my laptop is compatible with Windows 11 (I have done the windows check).

The question I have relates to secure boot, to install windows 10 via USB I had to disable secure boot first.

Having secure boot enabled is a necessary requirement for Windows 11, will I be able to upgrade to Windows 11 or will I have to wipe my machine, enable secure boot and reinstall Windows.

As I understand it... the "Disable Secure boot, is only a requirement when installing Win 10 from a USB stick.

After Win 10 is installed, you CAN turn on Secure Boot, and you have more options than just a USB stick, for installing Windows 11.
Besides a USB stick you can acquire Windows 11 via free upgrade or by installing from an ISO on your desktop.

Right click the ISO image, choose: MOUNT, then just double click setup.exe

Secure boot is greyed out in my BIOS settings.

You might have to enable something else in your BIOS to get the Secure Boot to... "light up".

Even though it's greyed out... it must be enabled, or you wouldn't have passed the "Windows Check" ??


Maybe run this tool, and post a screenshot of the results.

Got it to work by disabling Legacy mode in boot options, thanks.

There is no need to disable secure boot when booting from a Windows 10 or Windows 11 installation USB flash drive, if the flash drive is PROPERLY created.

If as i do you still have 'Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool' you can still use this to create working USB drives with Windows 10 and 11. You will need to have the ISO file first though.

Or use the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool. Disabling secure boot is only necessary when creating a USB using Rufus or similiar.
