Hi,
I don't believe 11 is anymore faster than 10
11 is just new but it's also taken longer to setup because a lot more stuff is messed up on 11.

Why don*t you use F2 ror renaming?
And about the capaitalization issue: actually, the file will be renamed, just hit F5 to refresh the window.
I have started using F2 to rename a selected item occasionally. However, I've been running the interface with single-click enabled with the registry entry to eliminate the new pre-menu, and I am also comfortably able to right click an item and hit "m" to rename as well.

I just tried renaming a file with the same name and different capitalization, refreshed, and the filename never changed. I went into a different folder and back and refreshed again, no result.

Quick question, is that Windows 10 environment a clean install or had you been using it prior to adding Win 11?

I have the same issue. and if I try to rename a folder, when I click to the right of the name to rename it, it just opens the file, folder, or picture, etc. I want the Show more options window to be permanent, that change was stupid IMO. No reason for it.

I`m going to attempt a repair install to see if it fixes the issue.

OK the reason it disappears has been identified a few posts up, if you have your mouse set to single click (like I like to do, I hate clicking twice) that is what`s causing the issue. If you set your mouse to double click (which I think is silly) the right click window works fine :)

It is fixed in the dev branch.

I just tried renaming a file with the same name and different capitalization, refreshed, and the filename never changed. I went into a different folder and back and refreshed again, no result.
strange. I just tried it on both W7 and W11 and it worked: created a file and named it abc.txt. Then renamed it to Abc.txt => Explorer would still show as abc.txt. Hit F5 (or use the Refresh option from the right click menu), and tadaaa it shows Abc.txt.

If you are using a laptop, make sure your Fn keys are activated.

I find the whole menu stuff is messy and not intuitive. I hope this isn't the finished result. You can find things but a lot more menus and clicks and some things aren't quite where you'd expect. The full programs list has a lot less in it - and then there's "Windows Tools" containing control panel and various other things like device manager (that can be accessed by right click) all lumped together. From there you can only pin control panel to the taskbar, not to the start menu. But if you type control panel in the search box and right click you can pin it to the start menu! All a bit messy - although seems quite nippy and smooth to run.

I particularly dislike some the of the right click options. All the things I want to use - copy, paste, rename folder - are in a separate bit at the bottom (a further click) "other options". Settings menus are a lot less visual and seem a bit dumbed down.

You have all of the main options(copy/paste) available when you right click on a file or folder. It's on the top.. check the icons.

Ah! Thank you. I tend to only see words, not icons :) Good to know they're there. I suspect the Windows Tools folder may be removed at some point in the future - with a lot of older things included in it - control panel, wordpad etc. Maybe why they've been lumped in one folder.

No - unless - was it a clean install? If an upgrade, maybe some compatibility issues. For me, the search icon on the bottom bar has disappeared (but that's on very old hardware with a vista graphics driver installed).

Upgrade install, but I see in the latest dev build this issue is mentioned and supposedly fixed with Edge 95

Has anyone experienced a random issue where the taskbar loses focus?

Here’s the issue: I’ll have several apps or windows open which is displayed in the taskbar. “Normally” clicking on an open app/window from the taskbar brings it to the forefront (active viewable window/app). This is how it worked on every OS I’ve used, even the beta version of Windows 11.

However, on this current version of Windows 11 RTM (22000.258 now), sometimes the apps/windows do not come to the forefront when clicked, thus forcing me to minimize the current window or app to see the one I clicked to make active.

The issue is random, so it doesn’t happen all the time. In fact, as I type this post, I can’t duplicate the issue.

Anyone? Thanks.

I confirm the issue (several appearances), but not followed up, because random.

Thanks :)

And though the issue appears to be random, its also becoming an annoyance. Glad to see I'm not the only one with the issue.

Anyone? Thanks.

After 9 days of 8 to 10 hours a day, I can't recall being annoyed with this experience. However, I'm quick to click if something doesn't happen and I think I didn't click squarely on the target. I'll be watching more carefully.

This used to happen to me when I had two instances of explorer (files) open, clicking on the taskbar wouldn't open any files, it has disappeared now
