Windows 11 Defender unable to scan and other issues with it

Hello Everybody,

I just installed Windows 11 Fresh install from a mediacreation USB Install. I have had Win 11 for about a month now but this latest reinstall. and I am having issues with Windows defender.

I got it to a point where it is at least showing it is on, Currently I am unable to do any type of a scan it just does not Run a scan.

I have tried updating windows and DISM, SFC/Scannow fixes all have not fixed it. I also tried to repair it in the apps section. but nothing has fixed it and I am unsure why the scan ability is not working.

I have my system specs and here is my Win 11 version:

Version 22HS(OS Build 22621.1702). like I said this is a brand new fresh install not an image and I also wiped my M.2 drive with a nvme delete built into the Mobo and using Parted Magic..

Not sure what else to add but I am really trying to figure out why the scans will not scan, perhpas I have a malicous virus or worm??

I will try this as a last resort as it is a brand new install..

the foreach thru a red mesage in powershell? Parsererror.. and malewarebytes said it found an issue it looked to be Notepadd++?? Could I have gotten a bad copy of it?

IS that script thingie 3 parts or do I copy the entire thing into PowerShell and I am getting some hits in Maleware Bytes wierd as this is a fresh install. could the windows ISO that I used be corrupted somehow?

You need to copy and paste the entire code to the PowerShell and press Enter key.

OK I did that the first time and got multiple red messages. I am also getting trojan hits called "Torjan.FakeMS.ED?? any idea what that is?

I ran that command no problems this time I think I missed the last bracket :) Also I found a few trojans and just got back from a reboot but Defender is still not able to run a scan and I am on a clean boot..

Trojan.FakeMS

Have you executed Sfc /Scannow command?

Windows 10 DLL File Information - atl.dll

windows10dll.nirsoft.net

You should try in-place upgrade your settings, files and programs won't be affected by it.

Yes I had stated all I did in my OP..

I think I have a corrupted ISO from my own doing. I am going to go on another PC and get the Media tool from microsoft. I appreciate all the help but I think this install is beyond saving and corrupted real bad..

Was this from the MSN site, an official download ?

May be a corrupt download. Consider another clean install and fresh download.

Yes it was the official MS site and my trouble began with trying to get a slimmed install of Win11 and I used NTLite and this other program from CTT which I think had a bad link to a nefarious copy of one of the softwares I could auto install..

I finally found a hidden partition on the flash drive that I was using during all this. I did delete it but when I was Formatting the flash drive it failed with a error -1 error so I ditched it and I reinstalled Win11 and all seems fine now..
