Windows 11 doesn’t play nicely with AMD Ryzen processors

AMD reports that Windows 11 may be causing a performance dip of up to 15% on Ryzen CPUs
This was all i could find, a few articles spout the same information, Im gonna say its a low % of users though if anything
it is cpu dependant it seems, and application.

I've not really noticed anything in games, about the same.
in other apps I use I have noticed it.

Its the other apps that for me is the problem as it isn't just a 15% drop in performance. its weird behaviour as well such as a random black screen every 10 seconds or so like a single empty frame entered the buffer, doesn't do anything other than that.(I do see that in games as well and that's a new thing since the latest update.)

I'm going back to windows 10 today for the rest of this year once a few more updates are done I'll put 11 back on.

That's likely click bait.. PC Gamer? Right.. a sound source.
you could just run some benchmarks yourself to find out like I did.

10-15% drop in performance in every single one.
Oddly actual games don't display the same drop as synthetic benchmarks do, but then not so odd either.
But I've recorded some numbers and when I go back to windows 10 later today I'll retest and see how those game numbers compare.

This is a huge problem for gamers. Gaming in Win11 is really bad on Ryzen CPUs. Blame Micro$oft for this. As usual, Win11 devs will not do anything about it, AMD will have to step forward to fix this problem.
The fix for that issue is coming out.

There was a Chipset driver out today, could be related. Check the news forum. Changes to drivers is the most efficient way to fix, so AMD would be the ones to do this.

Yes, it has been fixed in a new 11 22000.282 build. Now we need someone to really test this in games.

I find no link to a new AMD chipset driver in the News or Devices forums.

An update to 22000.282 in the beta and RP insider branches, yes.

Thanks, but it's not new. AMD dates it as from 9/13/2021. I downloaded and installed it on that date.

I was referring to the post by "barman58" (post 46). It referred to something "today" (10/15). I think that a new version may not exist yet. Fingers crossed that AMD provides a patch next week, as they have suggested.

Well, at least when I run AIDA64 on my Ryzen 5600X system, it DOES appear to be fixed after I applied that update.

I think you need to run AIDA64 benchmark 4-5 times to see that's it's not entirely fixed...

After 3.10 chipset and latest MS updates...

000000 L3 Cache Bench.jpg

It's a LOT better, but still not as "consistently" good as Windows 10.
Both "sets of four" were run 5 minutes after a cold boot.
The 5 minute wait was for the delayed start Services to finish.

Only 3rd party programs running...
Bidefender Internet Security (idle)
AIDA64 Extreme (running the benchmark)
Paintshop Pro 7.04 (idle)
EVGA Precision X1 (vid card fan speed)

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?

I wonder whether Windows 11 or the AMD chipset drivers need to be patched, or whether Aida needs to be updated?
