Main system upgrade from Windows 11 Pro to Windows 11 Education using the change key option. All good. No fuss no muss (y)

Took about 2 seconds to activate. Never even asked or complained about the other activation :D

That said, the other machine is going back to Windows 10 Pro since I need a Windows 10 machine anyway. Not for specific hardware or software issues (though the processor isn't supported - i7-7700K) but for training/help purposes.

In the end, the whole activation process is really honour based. Due to the digital licence mechanism, both pcs will always activate Edu now if you clean install and skip key entry.

Yeah, you're probably right, but for me it's not about getting over as I really do intend to revert the other machine back to Windows 10 Pro as I've no use for two systems running Education versions. To be honest, I'm not even sure I'll leave Education on this machine, so...

Anyway, I've now run into an issue where suddenly I can't access my NAS drives. I now get this error....

Prior to the upgrade there were absolutely no access issues. And troubleshooter couldn't find anything :confused:

However, I can still access the NAS from my Windows 11 Pro laptop so that says it's definitely an Education setting thing. I just need to figure out what it is :think:

Any of you NAS users know to overcome Education's inability to access a NAS?

I can access my NAS via Windows 11 Pro, and from my Android device so I know the NAS is working, but I can't access the NAS from either of my Windows 11 Education machines (backup or main desktop) :mad:

I don't have any issues connecting to my NAS in Windows 11 Education. However, since my NAS does not require password authentication, I have to go to group policies and enable insecure logons:

Also if your NAS is old, you might have to enable SMB v.1.

Wanna post back to say enabling the Lanman Workstation worked on my backup machine.

Had an issue that when upgrading to Windows 11 Education, I suddenly lost access to my Western Digital NAS drive. Reverting back to Windows 11 Pro solved the issue of allowing me to connect again (main rig). On my backup machine running Windows 11 Education, enabling Lanman Workstation allows access to my NAS drive. Odd since my NAS does not require SMB1 (still not enabled on NAS).

Hi, are there options to obtain edu key by joining those courses and then leaving after redeeming key. I would pay for joining those programs but if its not too expensive to join.

Or does anyone have an idea on how to obtain edu key.

I'm currently a student ,but University where i study doesnt have this option of giving free win 11 edu copy.
