For the last month, I have lost documents folder and pictures folder in windows explorer.
There is a gallery folder that appeared with some photos, but I cannot add or delete to it, because iot is locked.
I have already done a system restore but nothing happens.
I wish that I had my windows 10, as all of the bugs and garbage, were already worked out.
What can I do to fix any of this?

I’m not familiar with this issue, but unless Microsoft sent all these missing files/pictures into never ever land, and they just somehow managed to get deleted, they have recovery software that works great for these issues. I use Stellar, it’s always worked great for me.

Don't know if this works, but I did find this if your talking about the gallery folder in explorer.

In order to disable this feature, please open CMD as administrator then paste the following command:

reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace_41040327\{e88865ea-0e1c-4e20-9aa6-edcd0212c87c}

A computer reboot is required to complete the procedure.

Features like these should be able to be turned off/on by the GUI and not force users to have to edit the registry to remove them. JMO

Just tried this, it didn't work for me.

This did work...

Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box. Type “regedit” and press Enter. Click ‘Yes‘ in UAC (User Account Control) to open the Registry editor.

Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID

Right-click on the CLSID subkey and select New > Key.

Name the new key
{e88865ea-0e1c-4e20-9aa6-edcd0212c87c}.

Right-click on the newly created key and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Name the new value System.IsPinnedToNamespaceTree.

Double-click on the new value and set its value to 0.

Click OK to save your changes.

Close the Registry Editor.

Restart File Explorer.

Is this on the left hand side of the file explorer window?

You can repin files and folders there by navigating to c:\users\name of your user account.

The folders will be there and you can right click and pin them to quick access.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I can promise that these folders did not just disappear on their own. Some change you made caused it. Since it is the documents and pictures folders involved rather than all your folders, if I was guessing I would say you attempted to make changes regarding Onedrive and did it incorrectly.
Not knowing what exactly it is that you did, you can attempt to straighten it out as follows:

You first have to turn off backup folder syncing. This tutorial tells you how and also how to get your files onto your local drive.
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/turn-on-or-off-onedrive-folder-backup-syncing-across-windows-11-devices.4321/

NOTE: ONLY IF FOLDERS DO NOT MOVE TO DEFAULT LOCATION IN the above procedure DO THIS
If this happens, then you could try option three below to restore the default folder location and copy your files manually from Onedrive into the folders..

2. Then you have to unlink account & PC from onedrive.
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/unlink-account-and-pc-from-onedrive-in-windows-11.15162/
Once you do this the files you have in onedrive will remain there until you login to Onedrive on the Web and delete them.
Sign in - Microsoft OneDrive

3. You can then either uninstall Onedrive or disable it. I prefer to disable it. Open Task Manager>Startup Apps
Find Onedrive in the list and, right click on it, select disable. This prevents Onedrive from auto-starting.

4. If you want to uninstall it instead use Revo Uninstaller Freeware Portable. Be sure to delete any leftover files and registry entries Revo finds. Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download

If that does not work to straighten it out your only alternative is to create a new local account , copy your files from onedrive to external media, then copy from external media into the new account. If it comes to that let us know.
