Windows 11 home edition... randomly switching keyboard layout languages without permission?

OS
Windows 11
The title says most of it all. My keyboard layout on my brand new 2 week old Asus laptop running Windows 11 home edition is supposed to be set to use ISL (Icelandic keyboard) by default.

But the operating system seems to periodically switch back to ENG (United Kingdom) as indicate by the taskbar.
It seems to do it without permission like some sort of prank and without me using these commands

:win: + Spacebar
Touching with mouse or mousepad.

How do i stop this?

I do it by removing the one I don't want, in my case the US layout.

settings/... Time & Language/.. Language & Region../

Under 'Language' (third bar down) click on the dots at the end of the language you want to remove and select 'Remove'

I'm sure someone has a setting that can do it without that though

My laptop (W11 Home) is multi-lingual, and I can confirm the seemingly random switching of languages. It happens only infrequently and I simply switch the keyboard back to the language I need, no big deal for me. I assume it is a glitch in the young OS.

Thanks managed to figure it out by installing a Icelandic language pack. Then lowering the language priority of the english languages and then clicked remove under the options on them.

Sorry if it's bad to revive a thread but this didn't quite work.
The language pack which i only wanted for the keyboard also replaces a lot of words in the Windows system. Which i'm unfamiliar with the icelandic meanings for commands.

So many words didn't fit with what i only know about in windows english versions so i had to uninstall it and i guess i have live with the keyboard randomly switching for now until windows can fix it.

Nothing bad about it, as it is your own thread, and you're back with more info - in fact, I'm pretty sure it's the right thing to do :)

Sorry you have to deal with that, but it does seem to be a common issue. Since the language pack did not work, it is possible that the windows key is extremely sensitive and is being detected as being pressed when in fat you're only pressing the spacebar when typing?

I had that happen to me once and it was maddening before I finally (and quite accidentally) figured it out. However, I doubt that this is the case for you, because all sorts of other shortcuts using the Windows keywould also activate if it were the Windows key sensitivity being an issue.. So, maybe also check all the ASUS apps to see if some of them are set to change the keyboard layout for any reason.

Otherwise, sorry you're stuck with it.

Actually the keys are firm and need a firm push of both :win: and Spacebar to trigger it by keyboard. As for Asus Apps i've checked that too

I had a feeling you had checked, but had to make sure. I suppose it's one of those quirks of Windows.

The Move Up option has worked, i didn't need to utilize the :win:+spacebar like i usually had to.
