Windows 11 is very power hungry...not normal

and I don't mean the usual power saving advice (background tasks, display settings, power options, etc). I use my laptop with an external thunderbolt monitor and with AC external power , so power consumption is not related to the laptop's display which is disabled. All conditions being equal, Windows 11 consumes much more power than Windows 10, to the point that even the AC power is not enough and it starts draining the internal battery. I have Windows 11 optimized with minimal background tasks (at idle the CPU usage is 0%). So this is a total mystery, there must be something inherent to Win11 that causes this excessive power requirement. Anyone with a hint? Thanks

Consuming power with no CPU utilization?

Hardly seems like it can be software related.

How many watts is it pulling through the laptop? I doubt its very power hungry at all

As mentioned, same conditions, same hardware, and Win11 drains, Win10 does not

The AC power brick supplies 130W, so Win 11 is pulling more than 130W because the battery level starts decreasing below 100%

I uninstalled all possible Windows 11 apps, there are no apps running in the background

Load up HWinfo and look at how much its pulling. Doing it on guesswork is a waste of time. It could be a faulty battery/power brick. My full pc is using less than that and in terms of performance, Blows you laptop out the water. Albeit im not doing anything other than running football manager, netflix and a few tabs, My cpu package is using 11watts at the minute. Its not windows.

MS just had a post about Windows 11 being more efficient while using less power. Your post just moved you into their B ring. You will get future updates only when MS feels you should get them.
