Stuck on dev level in Windows Insider with a custom build with an unsupported CPU (i7-7700K). No option to downgrade levels so my options were either a clean install of Windows 10 or find a way to bypass the hardware requirements.
So, I bypassed the hardware requirements

Interesting find.
Will be nice if that functions on all rings. :)

I tried installing onto an Acer Aspire laptop from 2006 which has an AMD Turion 64 processor. It sort of installs but I can't past the initial set up screens asking for user name and password etc. In the case of the Acer a big problem is the wireless adapter causing massive interrupts that slow things down. It took an hour to reach that this point but then just keeps going around in a loop... set up ran into a problem... and repeat.

It would run early versions of W10 quite well.

That installed 2GB RAM will be slowing it down a bit too

The only problem I had with a clean install on my Acer Aspire One D270 (Intel Atom N2600, Legacy bios, 2GB RAM) was getting 11 Home's setup to allow me to create a local account. At the screen before that (let's connect you to a network..) ALT+F4 did the trick.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

If it's incompatible it is. It is obviously not suitable for win 11 so I wouldn't waste any time on it as MS will probably stop any "fixes" in the near future

I would second that opinion as if it is not supported, it will void your warranty, no support means no firmware or drivers. So best to stay on 10 :) I as a surface pro 5 user am fine with Windows 10, security updates are important. Also even without warranty, I can still get help from Windows support online and if I am on 11, they wont' help me

Unless software can damage hardware, it should not void the Warranty. This is bull***t is spread by manufacturers to scare us and buy a new PC rather than attempt to install Windows 11 on our unsupported one. The worst it can happen is that we won't be able to install Windows 11 at all, or find drivers afterwards. Good news though, any Windows 10 or 8 or 7 or Vista 64-bit driver works also in Windows 11 with the exception of some Windows 7 graphics drivers (mostly by Intel) that deliberately do not work on newer Windows versions to force us upgrade our hardware. Dream on!

I would call mine a 'W7' PC as that is what it came with back in 2012. It runs W11 just fine... in fact I would go as far as to say it has been the most trouble free of any OS to date. I clean installed the final release version two days ago.

As always I just wait once the desktop appears and after a couple of minutes the correct Intel driver is installed by MS (Intel HD3000, so an oldie).

This PC meets all the requirements except CPU 8th gen. I'm running an i7-7700, and it's running beautifully on 11 21H2 194, so I'll be looking forward to getting any updates (any MS doesn't automatically supply, that is) from the Update Catalog, when they are announced on this forum.

I'm optimistic about this working. But I've got good W10 backup images to re-install if anything goes sour down the road.
