Windows 11
Hello guys.

In the System>Sounds>Properties section my output settings format was 16 bit, 48000 Hz ( i guess this was carried over from Windows 10. I don't know if these were the max settings there). I noticed that i could change it to 24bit, 48000 Hz (which is marked "Studio quality" against 16 bit's "DVD quality").

Does this do any good or do you need compatible speakers to notice any difference? If yes it doesn't harm if i just leave it at that even though my speakers will still provide 16bit audio right?

Also i noticed this Enhance audio option that is off by default. Does this do any good to anyone that has tried enabling it ?

Thanks

This is the default format for playing sound (48000Hz is DVD quality). You can change that from the media player application, such as VLC. You won't notice any difference with common speakers, unless you hook up a Hi-Fi.

The Enhance section enables some audio effects, such as reverb, loudness normalization and others. You rarely use it.

So enabling the 24bit makes no difference without HiFi speakers right?

I enabled the enhance audio option but i see no difference either.

I mainly watch YouTube videos and movies through VLC. Only thing i change in VLC every time i install is is audio normalization and i also take the volume limit up to 200%.

This is useful in some videos that are recorded with low volume level and you have hard time distinguishing the dialogue.

I use the audio enhancement on my laptops otherwise the volume can be too low with the onboard speakers.
