Hi John, you're right, latest is not always better, but that's a whole different discussion than the issue I posted in this thread. But just to add to your point: I've been a Dell XPS notebook user for many years and the sleep/hybernate feature has always been a problem in different XPS models, and no firmware updates were able to completely fix it. I never had to worry about it since I always power on and power off as needed, always disabled that feature.I also have a Dell laptop (Inspiron 13 7373 with 8th gen i7 Intel processor) - a bit long in the tooth now. I recently manually installed the latest Intel graphics driver, and then had a lot of hassle which caused a BSOD when returning from sleep (i.e. after every time I closed the lid). It took a while to trouble shoot, but eventually I restored the latest recommended driver (as shown on the Dell page for my laptop) and return from sleep works fine. As an enthusiastic updater, who thinks the latest drivers are generally the best, especially for security reasons, I was a little disappointed that it turns out that I am better off on this laptop with an older driver.
I just offer this as a cautionary note for anyone in a situation similar to ours. As always, YMMV.
John
