Windows 11 update repeatedly fails

It may be past time for a clean install, if UUP Dump doesn't work.. ^^
That is what I was thinking but Graham doesn't want to risk losing his apps so I merely suggested what worked for me.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
But this can be changed by the user at any time, right? So it may not be correct?
The other way of checking is in the Registry at:

The install language is shown as a 4 digit code.

Ok... I'll set up the new accounts tomorrow and read the instructions for downloading the info. Still waiting on the UUP Dump routine to finish. It's been going at least 7 hours now...

That's probably the problem you're having with updates.
If you have Hibernate enabled, that will make another huge file on C:\ ...called hiberfil.sys
Please post a screen shot of Disk Management.

Starting 3 or so months ago, the Windows 11 updates that used to be ~700MB, are now about 4GB

That should work. I highly recommend cloning that OS to a larger SSD once you're done with this. Clone it and extend the storage after you're done. That way you can remove the original 120 GB drive after and tuck it away in a nice safe place for in the event of a catastrophic system failure. In the mean time you can run your system on a drive that won't run out of room so easily.

You should have way more space on the C: drive. For one thing, SSD drives do NOT like to be near capacity, that really slows them down and also decreases their lifespan due to thrashing. 120GB is barely enough for a minimal windows installation without a lot of applications also loaded.

Myself, if drive "D" were an SSD (and of course if it were empty) I would clone drive "C" to drive "D" and remove drive "C" altogether. I have thumb drives with more capacity than what drive "C" can offer here. I know some people like to think they can run everything off "the cloud" but Windows Updates down load directly to your C drive and if you're running applications on that drive it won't take long before it fills up a drive that size.

I'm not sure. The drive I have Windows on is 500GB, so I've never had to check.
When you get the ISO from UUP Dump, it can get pretty large before it actually creates the ISO image.

In post #32 I mentioned a Clean Install.

Yes, you'd have to reinstall your Apps, and redo your tweaks, BUT, you'd have a much smaller, working Windows 11.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
The download process is running a lot faster this time (I think there might have been an issue with my broadband fibre line at my provider end). I can let this process go and see whether I get the same result. My hard drive was definitely full last time.
