Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
I'm sorry, in stead of saying it is "stupid" to advise the use of a cell phone for data storage, I should have and meant to say, "Ill Advised" in stead.

Not good advise to readers who possibly don't know the difference. And, I'm afraid we may have a few of those.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

In 72 I tried to get my parents to sign the papers so I could join the military. I was out of school and figured that I'll probably get drafted next year so why wait. They wouldn't sign and the draft ended before I turned 18. By then I had a full time job so I decided not to join. My thoughts were more on my job, cars and girls. Not necessarily in that order though. Between my full time an part time employment I have worked at the same place almost as long as you are old. I started full time in 1973 and retired in 2010. A few months later I went back working part time.

Writing in stone, sounds difficult, arduous, tedious and all that, but I'm ever reminded,, every time I save to a Flash Drive that technically I AM writing in stone...Silicon, in the form of memory chips. My keyboard is my hammer and my PC is my chisel.

In view of the fact that my Flash Drives won't last forever, they will probably outlast me.
And, that's good enough for me.
A few years ago, I think it was Sony that was boasting that heir CD's would last for 30 years.
That did sound impressive, since they would outlive me by decades. But today, I rarely burn anything to CD/DVD's. Even though I still have hundreds of them, sitting on the shelf, and the full retail version of NERO Burning Rom, software, ssfely tucked away.
New PC's today, don't even come with CD drives any more. :tears::tears:
Back in The Day, I used to copy my own Utilities CD and send the copies to friends all around the world. Now, I can't send them to Canada any more, due to Canadian mail laws.
and Google won't allow the mailing of any Executable file.
The last CD I mailed to a friend in Canada never made it past the border.
Hopefully someday technology will provide a better way of sharing data over borders.

Tried FTP? Back in the day (when I was actively editing books), I used that every day to move book manuscripts back and forth author-editor.
Ah, the good old days. Hmmmm. Maybe not.

I've used FTP in "Team Viewer" to upload programs to PC's in very remote locations.
But it requires setup on both ends, and someone who knows what they are doing. I found it NOT to be user friendly.
