Windows 12 ! Already....

So Microsoft is working on Windows 12 to be released between summer and winter 2024 ..does this mean ...Windows 12 forum ?
and those pc users who managed a workaround for unsupported hardware to install Windows 11...would they face issues updating to Windows 12 ?
Will have to wait and see...

No need to wait, the answer is yes, they will. A workaround is required to upgrade an unsupported device from one version of Windows to the next, whether it's called '11' or '12'. We have already seen that with the upgrade from Windows 11 21H2 to 22H2.

If Windows 12 does come out sometime in late 2024, I see many users currently on Windows 10 skipping Windows 11 entirely. Though it's too early to tell, MS could very well make it impossible to upgrade older hardware to the new Windows 12.

3 years is actually a pretty normal cadence for MS and their new releases.

W95 came out in Aug 1995
W98 - June 1998 (3 yrs)
XP - Oct 2001 (3 yrs)
XP 64bit - Apr 2005 (4 yrs)
Vista - 2007 (2 yrs)
W7 - Oct 2009 (2 yrs)
W8 - Oct 2012 (3 yrs)
W9 - still waiting
W10 - July 2015 (3 yrs)
W11 - Jun 2021 (6 yrs)

So W12 in 2024 fits right in there!

Reference my original question..Windows 12..Already !..sorry i could not reply earlier..i fell asleep.
Anyway,i have already near enough cloned ..by cloned i mean software programs,settings etc on my new back up Dell Inspiron pc DT 3670 bought in 2019..just a few things to sort out.

At the moment i am using Asus K31ADE bought in 2016 as my main pc and installed Windows 11 for unsupported hardware on 8/9/22
from Windows 10.

I have noticed that occassionally the monitor screen flickers and then freezes and i have re-start pc to get going again.
Asus pc can run for weeks without any problems then screen flickers and freezes again.Obviously,it is a warning sign that it going to die and once i put my personal items on external hard drive for safe keeping and then i begin using Dell pc.

Asus pc stills run ok apart from the screen flickering issue and have installed on both Asus pc and Dell SSD drives.

Have no idea what could be the cause of the screen flickering.

I guess the only good thing is we can keep using prior OS's until they stop support. I normally hang on 2-3 years after a new release. I have just moved to Windows 11 from Windows 10 2 years after release.

Same here, I just started W11 early this year and they're already talking W12?? Grrr

Windows 9 was released as Windows 8.1 (8+1=9, also NT 6.3 which does 6+3=9). They didn't consider 8.1 too different from original 8, so they did not name it 9, they named it 8.1 instead. They did not name NT 6.4 as 9 either, they named it as 10 to make clear it is much advanced compared to 8.1 Also 6+4=10, they later changed the version to NT 10.0 instead or the original NT 6.4 Windows 11 is still version NT 10.0, proof that is actually Windows 10 with a new skin.

Now you have to choose between Windows 10 and 11. I believe Windows 12 will be released after Windows 10 EOL so you can choose between Windows 11 and 12. This is in 2025, if I remember correctly. So in 2024 they will probably release only beta versions. And yes, there is already a www.twelveforums.com

Lol , I just went to Windows 11 Pro on my new desktop . I really dont have many bitches with W11 . I have it setup so
that the desktop really doesnt look any different than Windows 10 . The start button is slightly different but not so different that anyone
with half a brain couldnt figure out in a few minutes . Windows 11 boots in about 15 seconds and shuts off in about 5 seconds on my
desktop . It is quick opening applications. I have even managed to get my circa 2009 scanner to work on Windows 11 . The only thing I had to change was I had to get a new Hauppauge TV card because the new desktop does not have a PCI card slot . I had to get a new one with a PCI-E
card which works great . I wont be going to Windows 12 until 11 goes out of support . I cant think of 1 thing that hasnt worked on Windows 11 right . I have had some fun messing around with Zorin OS (Linux) . It has a really nice interface and works pretty well on old gear . It looks and acts like Windows as far as the desktop goes . It just worked right out of the box .

I can log into the Windows 12 forum but I can't post there. I'm thinking we might have to have TPM 3.0 to post in that forum. correction I can post there now. Yaaay!

Don't believe all posts in Windows 12 forum yet. They only announced that they work on Windows 12. There is no beta version yet, not even an alpha version.

What support do you really need? It's strange, but in over 30 years of running MS products, I've never needed or received any "Support" from them. And I certainly don't stop using an OS just because they declare EOS.
If I can't manage an OS without "Support" (or interference) from MS, I'll give up using a PC all together.

I think I called Microsoft support twice — only to discover that the guy on the other end of the phone knew less about the OS I needed help with than I did. Total waste of time! :lmao:

Unfortunately for us advanced users most of the time calling Support is a waste of time since we know A LOT more than the 1st level Support guy and we have already tried his suggestions he reads from a generic guide, plus many other possible fixes he is unaware of. If we need real help and fast, we better post at this forum. Most posters here are more experienced than the average Support guy, including 2nd level Support in some cases! So we help each other, one for all and all for one!
